🔥 TURBOCHARGED MUSTANG GT — BACK IN ACTION WITH PRECISION BOOST! 🔥

Now THIS is a Mustang that means business! 🐎💨

We had this beautiful red Ford Mustang GT 5.0L Coyote come into Lsxkilr Custom Calibrations from a dealership for some much-needed attention!

This Mustang was already sporting a serious single-turbo setup, but unfortunately, the turbocharger that was originally installed had failed.

That’s where we came in! 💪

🔧 HERE’S WHAT WE DID:

✅ Diagnosed the existing turbocharger issue

✅ Removed the failed turbocharger

✅ Installed a replacement Precision Turbo

✅ Completed a custom chassis dyno tune to get the new turbocharged combination properly calibrated

⚙️ A TURBO SWAP ISN’T ALWAYS JUST A BOLT-ON JOB!

When replacing a turbocharger, especially on a modified performance vehicle, there’s more to consider than simply bolting on a new unit.

Boost characteristics, airflow, fueling, ignition timing, and overall engine operation all need to be evaluated to ensure the combination is working together correctly.

🔥 2012 CAMARO SS — 6.2L LS3 POWER ON THE DYNO! 🔥

You can never go wrong with a clean 5th Gen Camaro SS! 😎🏁

Back in July, we had this beautiful white 2012 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS roll onto our chassis dyno for some custom tuning and calibration work.

Under the hood is GM’s legendary 6.2L V8, equipped with a few performance upgrades to help that engine breathe!

The customer also mentioned dealing with a recurring P1134 trouble code, even after replacing both oxygen sensors.

Here’s something worth remembering: Just because a trouble code references a particular system doesn’t automatically mean replacing parts will fix the problem!

Proper diagnostics and understanding how the engine management system operates are just as important as the tuning itself.

With modifications like long-tube headers and an aftermarket intake, having the ECU properly calibrated helps ensure the engine is operating as intended.

🚨 THE CHEAPEST SHOP CAN END UP BEING THE MOST EXPENSIVE! 🚨

Here’s a perfect example of why we always tell customers: Just because someone can turn a wrench doesn’t mean they know how to properly build an engine! 🔧

This 2019 GMC Yukon Denali with the 6.2L V8 came into Lsxkilr Custom Calibrations for what was supposed to be a straightforward custom dyno tune.

Unfortunately, once we started looking things over, it became pretty obvious that tuning was the least of this vehicle’s problems!

The vehicle had previously been worked on by another “shop” — or, more accurately, what appeared to be a backyard mechanic. And the workmanship certainly showed. 🤦‍♂️

🔍 HERE’S JUST SOME OF WHAT WE FOUND:

❌ Improperly Installed Head Gasket — The head gasket had been installed incorrectly, resulting in engine overheating issues.

❌ Red RTV Instead of Proper Exhaust Gaskets — Rather than using the correct exhaust gaskets, someone decided red RTV silicone was an acceptable substitute. As you can see in the pictures, it was squeezed out along the mating surfaces!

❌ Spark Plug Wires Not Even Connected! — Yes, you read that correctly. We found spark plug wires completely disconnected from the spark plugs!

❌ Multiple Mechanical Issues — These were just some of the problems we discovered while evaluating the vehicle for tuning.

⚠️ HERE’S THE IMPORTANT PART!

YOU CANNOT TUNE YOUR WAY AROUND POOR MECHANICAL WORK!

A custom dyno tune cannot correct an improperly installed head gasket, disconnected ignition components, or other mechanical problems.

Before we can properly calibrate an engine, the mechanical foundation needs to be right.

And this is exactly why choosing a shop based solely on the lowest price can become a very expensive mistake.

You might save a few dollars on the original installation, but how much did you really save when you have to pay another shop to diagnose and correct everything afterward?

This beautiful 1941 Willys Coupe came into Lsxkilr Custom Calibrations for some serious work, and we got to do a whole lot more than just put it on the dyno!

With its classic hot rod styling and modern performance upgrades, this Willys is the perfect example of combining old-school looks with modern technology!

🔧 HERE’S WHAT WE DID:

✅ Completed a full 5.3L GM LS engine swap

✅ Completed and corrected the existing Holley EFI system, addressing issues and getting everything working together properly

✅ Performed a custom chassis dyno tune to dial in the new engine combination

Swapping an LS engine into a classic hot rod is one thing, but making sure the engine management, fueling, ignition, and overall calibration work together properly is where the real attention to detail comes in!

With the mechanical work completed and the Holley EFI sorted out, we finished the project on our chassis dyno with a custom calibration tailored to this combination. 💪

🔥 2010 MUSTANG GT — HEADERS, EXHAUST & CUSTOM DYNO TUNING! 🔥

There’s just something about the sound of a 4.6L 3-Valve Mustang with a good exhaust setup! 🐎💪

Back in June, we had this sharp black 2010 Ford Mustang GT in the shop for a little more than just a tune!

This time, we handled the performance upgrades AND the custom dyno tuning!

🔧 Here’s What We Did:

✅ Installed American Racing Headers long-tube headers

✅ Installed an aftermarket H-pipe

✅ Performed custom chassis dyno tuning to dial in the new combination

Long-tube headers are a great upgrade for these 3-Valve Mustangs, helping improve exhaust flow while giving that 4.6L V8 a more aggressive sound!

But here’s the important part — installing performance parts is only half the job!

Once the installation was complete, we put the Mustang on our chassis dyno and calibrated the ECU to account for the changes in airflow and get the combination properly dialed in.

Another Chevy truck on the dyno! 💪

Back in July, we had this 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 equipped with the 5.3L Vortec V8 in the shop for custom ECU calibration work involving its factory Active Fuel Management (AFM) / Displacement on Demand (DOD) system.

These GM 5.3L engines are popular for a reason, but their factory AFM/DOD systems are also known for potential lifter-related problems. It’s something we see regularly with these trucks!

🔥 AFM/DOD DELETE + CAM UPGRADE = A BETTER 5.3L! 🔥

This 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 rolled onto our chassis dyno back in June after receiving a Brian Tooley Racing (BTR) AFM/DOD delete kit and camshaft upgrade!

The owner had already completed the mechanical modifications and made some initial adjustments with HP Tuners to get the truck running. However, installing aftermarket performance components is only part of the equation. Getting the ECU properly calibrated for those modifications is just as important! 💪
