That crumbly pile in the middle of this hub used to be an axle nut.

It rusted so badly it turned to dust, and it happened on both the driver and passenger side. That nut is what clamps the axle tight into the wheel bearing. Lose that clamp load and the splines start beating themselves up, taking the bearing with them. This one is getting axles and hubs on both sides.

Rust like this is a road salt story. We see it on vehicles that spent their early life up north before moving down here with their owners, and it usually stays hidden until somebody pulls a wheel off.

Did your car move to Texas from somewhere else? Tell us where it came from, we’re curious how far some of these have traveled. And if you’re hearing a hum or a clunk from a wheel, call us at 281-516-9400 and we’ll take a look.

48 degrees out of the vent while it’s over 100 outside. That’s what a healthy system should feel like.

Here’s a 10 second test you can run in your own driveway. AC on max, recirculate on, then hold your hand in front of the center vent for about a minute.

Ice cold, kind of cool, or basically just moving warm air around? Drop your answer in the comments and we’ll tell you if it’s worth a look.

If you landed on that third one, give us a call at 281-516-9400 before the next stretch of triple digits.

Not every car that rolls through the bay makes you want to take the long way back.

This 86 came in with a check engine light on. No rough idle, no drivability complaint, just the light. Diagnosis pointed to a failed oxygen sensor. That sensor is what the ECU uses to fine tune the fuel mixture, so when it stops reading accurately you start losing fuel economy and can eventually damage a catalytic converter, even while the car still feels perfectly normal to drive.

Fixed up and back to doing what it does best, which is making every corner feel like an event.

So we have to ask, what is the most fun car you have ever owned? Not the fastest, the most fun. The one you still think about. Drop it in the comments, we want to see them.

Check engine light on in your daily? Give us a call at 281-516-9400 and we will tell you what it is actually trying to say.

Most people have never had this done once.

That canister feeds BG cleaner into the fuel system under pressure while the engine runs, so it hits the injectors and the back of the intake valves. A bottle poured in your gas tank can’t reach that.

What it usually fixes: rough idle at a stoplight, hesitation off the pedal, and the fuel mileage that slipped so slowly you stopped noticing.

Be honest with us. How many miles on your vehicle, and has the fuel system ever been cleaned? No judgment either way.

That crusty pink stuff is coolant that leaked out and dried right on the spot.

Here is what catches people off guard. A leak like this can run for months without ever leaving a puddle in your driveway. The coolant hits hot engine parts and burns off before it reaches the ground.

Texas heat makes it worse. Hoses get brittle, clamps lose tension, and the system runs at max load with the AC going. Slow seeps from back in February are showing up now.

The usual tell is a sweet smell after you shut the engine off, or a temp gauge creeping higher than normal in traffic.

Honest question. When was the last time you popped your hood and looked around? This week, this month, or you genuinely cannot remember?

This Buick came in misfiring. We pulled the intake manifold and found the valves caked in carbon.

On a direct injection engine, fuel sprays straight into the cylinder. It never washes over the intake valves. So that bottle you poured in never even reached the problem.

The real fix is walnut shell blasting to physically clean the carbon off, plus a fuel injection service.

Be honest, how many of you have dumped a bottle in the tank hoping a rough idle would just work itself out?

Somebody moved in and never paid rent.

That fluffy mess packed into the fins is nesting material, courtesy of a rodent that decided this vehicle was prime real estate.

This is exactly why routine inspections matter. Weak airflow, a strange smell, an AC that just isn’t hitting like it used to. Sometimes the reason has fur.

Be honest, has a critter ever set up shop in your vehicle? Tell us what you found.

Before you assume the worst, look at your battery cables.

Loose or corroded terminals cause voltage to drop in and out. Your car has dozens of computer modules that all need steady power, and when that power flickers, they start throwing codes and lighting up the dash. We have seen check engine lights, traction control warnings, and random no-starts all trace back to a connection you could tighten with a wrench.

It is not always the answer. But it is cheap to check, and we would rather you rule it out before you spend money chasing something bigger.

Be honest, when was the last time you actually looked at your battery terminals? No judgment here.

Not sure what you are looking at? Bring it by and we will check it for you. 281-516-9400

AC not blowing cold? That glow is why.

We add a UV dye to the AC system, then run a blacklight over the components. Any leak lights up bright green. On this one the dye showed up all over the evaporator core, which sits deep in the dash where you would never spot it otherwise. No guessing, no throwing parts at it.

Slow leaks only get worse in Texas heat. If your air has been weak this summer, bring it in and let us find the actual source.

Pulled the diff cover on this one and found this. It came in with a serious growl from the rear.

Gear oil is not supposed to look like coffee creamer.
