Oregon does not have specific state laws regulating credit card surcharges above the federal laws – which means Towers must comply with the federal laws regulating credit card fees.

Towers are not required to accept credit card payments.

Oregon law allows towers to accept cash only or, at their discretion, accept credit card payments for some transactions.

Accepting credit card payments is a business decision and is not regulated by the state.

If a tower accepts credit cards for some towing business, the tower is not required to accept credit cards for all towing business.

For instance – a tower might accept cc payments from insurance or business customers, but not for release of PPI or abandoned vehicles.

Consistency and transparency in payment policies is important.
