Hot pavement puts tires through a serious workout, so small maintenance mistakes deserve more attention than they might get on a mild spring morning.

Understanding Oxygen Sensor Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) 🚗🔍
When your Check Engine Light turns on, your car's OBD-II scanner often points to the exhaust system. Here is a breakdown of the most common codes related to your oxygen sensors and catalytic converter:
Bank 1, Sensor 1 (Upstream Sensor - B1S1)
Located on the exhaust manifold before the catalytic converter, this sensor measures the air-fuel ratio leaving the engine to optimize combustion.

P0130 - P0135: Circuit malfunctions, slow response, or heater circuit issues in Sensor 1.

P013A & P2195: Slow response during rich-to-lean transitions or sensor signal stuck lean.

Bank 1, Sensor 2 (Downstream Sensor - B1S2)
Located after the catalytic converter, its main job is to monitor the efficiency of the catalytic converter.

P0136 - P0141: Circuit faults, high/low voltage, or heater circuit failure in Sensor 2.

P2270 & P2271: Sensor signal stuck lean or stuck rich.

Catalytic Converter Efficiency

P0420 & P0430: Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (Bank 1 / Bank 2). This usually indicates that the catalytic converter is failing, or the downstream sensor is giving inaccurate readings.
