Tech tip of the day don't use decorative metal caps on your valve stem. The Valve stem metal caps corrode, particularly aluminum caps on brass stems, due to galvanic corrosion, an electrochemical process caused by dissimilar metals touching in the presence of moisture, road salt, and dirt. This reaction welds the cap to the stem, often destroying the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensor during removal.
