Hi all. We hope this finds you well. Unfortunately, we have to announce that the 2026 Airfield Drags will not be happening this year. To help reduce speculation and misinformation, we will explain why. First, as you may know, the Three Rivers Airport is regulated and funded by City, State and Federal entities. Therefore, all non-aeronautical events, such as Airfield Drags, must meet many requirements in order to be held. Unfortunately, recent timeline changes made by MDOT and the FAA to obtain approval for our event have been changed, requiring applications to hold such events to be submitted by the city at least six months in advance (it was previously 90 days). This change was communicated to The City of Three Rivers by MDOT and the FAA on April 6, 2026. It was then communicated to Airfield Drags earlier this week. Based on these changes, our event is automatically outside the necessary timelines to submit for approval. Additionally, the Three Rivers Airport received recent approval for the fuel distribution system to be replaced which is to be occurring this summer. As you can imagine this will be a large undertaking and will prevent us from doing what we need to do to prepare and host Airfield Drags. We need to note that these issues are outside of our ability to control, but require us to postpone the 2026 Airfield Drags to 2027. We are making this announcement now in order to give our fans, racers, and vendors ample time to make alternative arrangements for August. This is very difficult for all of our wonderful volunteers to accept, but we are confident in our desire to continue Airfield Drags in the coming years! We are incredibly grateful to all of you who have taken an interest in our event and look forward to what the future holds!
