🦆 We're Proud to Sponsor the Northglenn-Thornton Rotary Club Duck Derby! 🦆
At Alternative Auto Care, we believe in giving back to the community that has supported us for so many years. We're proud to sponsor the Northglenn-Thornton Rotary Club Annual Duck Derby once again! We first became a sponsor in 2023, returned in 2025, and are honored to sponsor the event again this year. We hope to continue this tradition for many years to come.

Held during the City of Northglenn's Fourth of July Festival, the Duck Derby is the Rotary Club's largest annual fundraiser. Proceeds stay right here in our community, supporting local food banks, literacy programs, youth leadership scholarships, CASA teens, and many other programs that make a lasting difference.
🚗 Be sure to stop by and check out our duck we entered in the Best Dressed Duck contest! This year, we transformed our duck into Tow Mater from Cars—complete with a few fun Alternative Auto Care touches! If you see him, we'd be honored to have your vote. We had a blast bringing him to life and hope he brings a smile to everyone who visits.
Whether you're coming for the Fourth of July festivities, the Duck Derby, or to admire all the creative duck entries, there's something for the whole family. With 250+ chances to win prizes, it's a fun way to celebrate while supporting a great cause.

What are we working on Today?

🚗 Towed In: 2017 Ford

This 2017 Ford was brought to our shop on a tow truck due to a severe water pump leak.

On many Ford engines, the water pump is driven by the timing chain and located inside the engine. When these water pumps begin to fail, repairs can be extensive due to the extensive disassembly required to access the pump.
What are we working on?

Preventive repairs today can help avoid much larger repairs tomorrow.

🚗 Transmission Fluid Check 🚗
During a recent inspection on this 2007 Mazda 5 Touring, we checked the condition of the transmission fluid and found it was noticeably darker than new fluid.
Fresh transmission fluid helps:
✅ Protect internal components
✅ Improve shifting performance
✅ Reduce heat and wear
✅ Extend transmission life
Based on the fluid condition, we recommended a transmission drain-and-refill as part of preventive maintenance.
⚠️ In more extreme cases — such as burnt fluid, heavy contamination, slipping, or harsh shifting — we may recommend a more extensive transmission service using our BG Transmission Exchange Machine.
Unlike a standard drain-and-refill, the BG system exchanges nearly 100% of the old fluid while simultaneously installing new fluid and conditioners. It also helps clean internal transmission components and restore transmission performance without overfilling or underfilling the system.
Routine fluid inspections every 30,000 miles can help catch issues early and prevent costly repairs down the road!
