In-house tech Scott Blanyar’s dad Indian Joe, or Pop-Pop, as he was also known, owned this 1979 Jeep CJ-5, but since his passing the Jeep has languished in the back-40. Tasked with getting it back on the road Scott couldn’t really find a replacement 304, but the shop had a 1986 GT 5.0L sitting around so Dave and Scott dropped that between the fenders. Once running, Scott’s plan is to take it the woods, where his dad loved to go.

Dave has this cherry 1985 GT in the shop to diagnose and repair an overheating problem, remedy a cold start issue and replace the door strikers. The car also needs a little tune-up to get it running perfectly. With what is believed to be 30,338 actual miles on the odometer, it’s no surprise this Four-Eye rides and drives like butter.

Work is taking place on Darryll Bozeman’s 1995 Cobra. Dave is adding an ANS Motorsports-built 331 with AFR heads and a Ford Performance F303 cam. To mount the stout small block in place, the car will receive a Racecraft Inc. k-member and a Centerforce® Clutches clutch will transfer the power through to a Tremec Transmissions 3550.

Our good friend and customer Junior McKenzie getting some ink while attending last weekend’s NMRAInaugural Arrington Performance NMRA/NMCA Power Festival.

Michigan is a long ride from Brandon, Florida, so after the Norwalk event, Junior McKenzie left his trailer at Dennis Conway’s place to make for an easier drive home and back here to US 131 Motorsports Park for the Inaugural Arrington Performance NMRA/NMCA Power Festival. McKenzie runs his 1979 Mustang in ARP /Magnafuel Products Open Comp with a naturally aspirated 408 Windsor under the hood, and David Piercey Mustang Performance-built C4 in the tunnel with an FTI converter. Piercey also set up the car’s 8.8 rear, and this weekend he’s running a 9.87 dial. In round 1, he ran a 9.88 on that 9.87 dial, so that was good. Lisa, his wife, is the brains of the operation, McKenzie says, so we’re sure she had to help redo the carburetor after a float issue earlier in the weekend. McKenzie sits 10th in the points, so a victory here at US 131 would do a lot of good in moving up.

When racers need gears set up, they know who to call. When Troy Pirez, Jr was building his new Ultra Street ride, he commissioned Dave to set up the new car’s rear end using a Strange Engineering center section and a Motive Gear gear set.

In conjunction with the Zephyrhills Auto Auction at Festival Park, Dave will be having a swap meet of his own at the shop Thursday November 5th to Saturday November 7th. He’ll have Fox parts and other Ford performance parts available. Also, if you have parts to sell, call the shop to arrange a spot for your own items.

Mike Rosier’s 2008 Shelby GT500 is in this week for a McLeod Clutches clutch swap and MGW Shifters install. We’re adding a McLeod RXT clutch and an MGW short throw shifter so Mike can have even more fun behind the wheel. Contact us if your Mustang needs a new clutch and shifter.

The owner of this SN95 is not gonna know how to act once we get done swapping out the factory 3.08 gears for 4.10s. That’s a big jump in gear ratios, and will make this car so much more fun to drive.

Another happy customer. Allen Colding came in for new valve seals in his 306-powered 1968 Mustang fastback. We installed new valve seals, and Allen is back on the road.
