Fall is here, and the desert is green after the rain. Before you drive out to see the wildflowers or go bird watching, check four things:

1. Battery: slow starts or no starts mean get it tested.
2. Tire pressure: check it cold, and check the spare too.
3. Fluids: look for leaks and top off oil and coolant.
4. Fuel: fill the tank before you leave town.

It does not tell you why the car died, and if the battery is finished you will be standing in the same spot in two days.
