There are different ways to determine if your wheels are in need of regrooving. The first test is a combination of sight and sound. You may be in need of wheel regrooving if you see little or no tread remaining on your wheels; and hear no zip sound when dragging your nails across the grooves. You may also notice a difference in the way your wheels react on the skate floor (lack of traction, slipping, inability to stop as quickly).
