Hi everyoneπŸ‘‹ I'm Kody, the owner of Road Hog Detailing.
I run a mobile auto detailing service right here in Tampa bay. That means I bring everything to your driveway β€” and take care of your car while you go about your day. No drop-off, no waiting room, no leaving the house.
It's just me on every car, start to finish. Exterior, interior, ceramic coating, headlight restoration β€” whatever your car needs. And if something's ever not right, I come back and make it right. No charge.
I'd love to be the person this neighborhood trusts with their cars. If you've got questions or want a quote, comment below or send me a message I'd love to help.

The 1-hour rule. This one will save your paint.

Bird droppings are acidic. pH of 3.5-4.5 in some species β€” the same
range as vinegar. When they land on your clear coat, they start
etching immediately.

In Florida heat, the timeline is fast:
β†’ Under 1 hour: wipe off with a damp microfiber, minimal damage
β†’ 1-4 hours: light etching visible β€” polishable, but labor required
β†’ 4+ hours in direct sun: permanent etch marks in the clear coat.
No amount of polishing fixes structural damage.

The 1-hour rule: if you see it, remove it. Within the hour. Every time.

What to keep in your car:
A small spray bottle of detail spray + two clean microfibers.
Mist the dropping, let it soften 30 seconds, wipe gently β€” never scrub.
Takes 2 minutes. Saves your clear coat.

Not on your car right now? Go check.

Wash your wheels first, not last πŸ‘‡
Wheels are the dirtiest part of your car β€” brake dust, road grime, all of it.

If you wash the body first and save wheels for last, all that grit sprays back onto the paint you just cleaned. now you're washing twice (or driving off with fresh contamination).

Do the wheels first, rinse, then move to the body with clean water and a clean mitt. dirtiest part first, every single time. πŸ›ž

"It still shines like he just did it β€” and i've only washed it once. mirror finish."
That's the whole goal. not just clean for a day, but a finish that holds. takes time and attention to every panel, but this is why. πŸͺžπŸ›»

Mobile detailing vs. the drive-through wash. let's be direct. πŸ‘‡
the drive-through: 3–4 minutes, spinning brushes that put swirl marks in your clear coat every single time, recycled water with industrial detergent, no real attention to wheels or trim, no interior, no protection. $12–18.
the mobile detail: 2–4 hours of hands-on work, a two-bucket hand wash with zero brush contact, clay bar to pull bonded contamination a wash can't touch, a 6-month ceramic coating applied by hand, and the full car β€” interior, glass, wheels, trim. i come to your driveway. $150.
one of these cleans your car. one protects your investment.
if you drive something you care about, the math isn't complicated. πŸ—

Why we use water-based tire dressing. And why it matters.

The most common tire dressings are solvent-based. They shine immediately β€”
dark, glossy, impressive for about 24 hours.

Then it rains. Or you wash the car. Within 48 hours that dressing has
flung off the tire onto your wheel well, your rocker panels, sometimes
your paint. It's also breaking down the rubber underneath β€” accelerating
cracking and dry rot over time.

Water-based dressings work differently. They pe*****te the rubber instead
of sitting on top. They don't fling. They don't brown. They restore the
tire to a clean, natural finish without the chemicals that shorten its life.

Do they look as immediately dramatic? No.
Do they actually protect the tire? Yes.

Ceramic coating: what it actually does.
And what it doesn't.

WHAT IT DOES:
β†’ Creates a hydrophobic barrier β€” water beads and sheets off instead of
sitting on the paint and bonding to it, causing damage like etching
β†’ Dramatically increases UV resistance β€” slows oxidation and paint fade
β†’ Makes washing easier β€” contamination has a harder time bonding
β†’ Adds gloss depth and clarity that wax can't match
β†’ Protects against bird droppings, tree sap, and light chemical exposure

WHAT IT DOESN'T DO:
β†’ Make your car scratch-proof (it's not PPF β€” it won't stop door dings)
β†’ Eliminate washing (you still need to wash β€” it just makes it easier)
β†’ Last forever without maintenance (annual top-ups keep it performing)
β†’ Fix paint that's already damaged (correction has to come first)

The marketing around ceramic coating has outpaced reality. It's not a
force field. It's the best daily-driver paint protection available β€”
as long as you understand what it is.
