What was once an essential part of our marine operations is now bringing enrichment to some very special residents at ZooTampa.

Recently, we donated several large marine fenders that were no longer needed in our operations to ZooTampa at Lowry Park, where they found a brand-new purpose—enrichment for the elephants!

Watching these incredible animals interact with and enjoy the fenders is a great reminder that sustainability and community partnerships can make a meaningful impact in unexpected ways.

A huge thank you to ZooTampa for giving these marine fenders a second life and allowing us to be a small part of enhancing the elephants' environment.

Some careers are built one opportunity at a time—and Armando Gregory's journey is a perfect example.

Armando began his career with Hendry Corporation in 2006 as a Helper, quickly earning a reputation for his strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to excellence. His dedication led to a promotion as Foreman in the Outside Machinist Department.

When Hendry Corporation merged with Gulf Marine in 2015, Armando continued his career as a member of the Drydock Crew, where he played a key role in supporting safe and successful dry dock operations.

In 2024, Armando was promoted to Director of Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE). Today, he leads our safety initiatives, environmental compliance, and security programs, helping ensure that every employee, customer, and contractor returns home safely each day.

Armando's career reflects what is possible through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to continuous growth. We are proud to recognize his accomplishments and grateful for the leadership he brings to our team every day.

What is an Undocking?

An undocking is the process of safely returning a vessel to the water after maintenance, repairs, or inspections have been completed in drydock. While the final moments may appear effortless, the entire operation is a highly coordinated process that often takes 3 to 4 hours to complete.

Every undocking requires detailed planning, precise timing, constant communication, and flawless coordination. From carefully flooding the drydock to guiding the vessel safely back into the water, every step must be executed with accuracy and safety in mind.

This is where our Drydock Crew excels.
