This 10.3 to 1 545 is another testament of the potential in the AFR heads when a very modest cam is used.

With a careful port match the Air-Gap intake really worked well for the intended use in a 1978 F250.
Probably another 10 or so with a T2 with the same port work and Jomar power cone.

D9TE Block piston near 0 deck
S**T rotating assy with 34 cc dished pistons by AutoTec and H beam rods.
S**T damper and Flexplate Externally balanced

AFR 280's at 76.5 cc chambers

Carefully port matched Airgap intake.

Custom HR cam at 232 / 246 on a 111 in at 110 588" / .631" lift

BAM 2310 SR lifters with oil scratch. 0 lash cold above 60f

Comp XD 1.73 ratio rockers

Smith Brothers 8.800" / 9.200 3/8" .083 wall push rods.

Billet SA gear timing set with thrust bearing

MSD 84771 with steel gear TT at 31*

PC valve covers

Canton pan and pick up

Melling oil pump.

Best torque 714 @ 4200
Best HP 671 @ 5,400

SBC 327 for 66 Caprice PG. 9 to 1. 355 tq / 306 hp 5000.
Focus here was on usable low end torque for great drivability.

On this day 20 years ago we were at Engine Masters 2006 taking 3rd place behind Jon Kaase and BES Racing by not that many points !

The Eagle lightweight crank failed and in 52 hours we repaired and had the second engine on the dyno. It was down 10hp from the first due to the std weight crank we overnighted in.

Personally I'll take 3rd behind Kasse and BES and be happy with the showing. Jon Kasse the statesman that he is played it like he was concerned about our entry's score.

550 Tq. 489 HP @5000 rpm. 466 Jet boat A cut build with 219 / 233 HFT cam, T2 intake and Corrected Pro Comp heads.

10.27 to 1 545 with port matched Air Gap, AFR 280's and 232 / 246 HR cam.

Two coming on line this week.

#1) 10.3 to 1 545. AFR 280's, RPM AG, 232/246 HR cam and MSD distributor.
Expected output 680+ tq / 650 hp going in a 78 F-250 4x4

#2 10 to 1 466. Corrected Procomps, Torker 2, 219 / 233 HFT cam, Marine MSD. Going in a Jet Boat with a Berkeley A. Expected output 550 tq and 460 to 470 Hp.
