🏁❤️ The first week of our 2026 Carteret Speedway Kids Racing Camp has come to a close, and what an incredible week it has been!
Over the past four days, our campers learned that racing is about much more than just driving fast. They learned the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, listening skills, responsibility, respect, and working together to accomplish a common goal.
Throughout the week, the kids participated in driver assessments, learned about race car preparation, sponsorships, garage organization, and the importance of maintaining a clean and safe work area. They gained valuable knowledge about technical inspection procedures, practiced on racing simulators, developed their go-kart driving skills, and even had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of Bomber race cars. Each day built confidence, leadership skills, and a deeper understanding of what it takes to be successful both on and off the racetrack.
Most importantly, we watched friendships form, confidence grow, and young racers discover a passion for the sport we all love.
A very special thank you to Mack Tatum, who facilitated the camp and helped make the entire week possible. His leadership, patience, and dedication to teaching these young racers played a huge role in the success of the program.
We would also like to thank Mike Eggleston, Noah, Austin Eckert, JC & Janet Wade, David, Nolan Walker, and Scotty Benford for sharing their time, knowledge, and experience with our campers throughout the week.
A special thank you goes to our camp team—Bob Lowery, Judy Hailey, and Tracie Wade-Cronkhite—for their hard work behind the scenes and their commitment to creating a positive experience for every child who attended.
