Anchor Motorworks

Anchor Motorworks This is the world Facebook headquarters of Anchor Motorworks.

Anchor Motorworks started in 2020 to fulfill a need for quality starters and alternators, and in 2024 started a shop to expand that to European automotive repairs and maintenance

When you want something that is going to be impervious to an EMP attack, maybe you need one of these lol. It'll also make pretty much any other car on the road. Feel like they have plenty of power. But it's also a lot of fun, since it's a 5-speed manual and Diesel.

Yesterday we made a post about working on older vehicles, and here's another one that came in this morning. This 1960 Volkswagen Bus has been shortened quite a bit and definitely stands out from the crowd.

It's in for a few repairs, including tracking down several leaks and replacing some broken rear suspension components. We enjoy working on unique vehicles like this, whether it's a classic Volkswagen, a vintage European import, or something a little unusual.

Stay tuned for updates as we get this one back on the road!

Another beautiful classic in for repair. This one is a 1974 450SL with a few issues, one of the main ones being that the horn doesn't work—and that's kind of needed for inspection.

A lot of shops turn away cars like these because service information can be harder to find and wiring problems can be tricky to diagnose. But I enjoy these old European cars. Whether it's a 1970s Mercedes, a 1960s Austin-Healey, or a 1950s Volkswagen, we work on them.

And if you have one of those old Japanese cars that hasn't rusted away yet, we work on those too.

Another engine drop! 💪
This Audi RS5 is in for a transmission clutch pack replacement, which means the engine and transmission have to come out as a complete assembly. Thankfully, our new engine table arrived just in time for this job. Between the right equipment and experience from doing these before, this one should go much smoother and faster than the last.
Not every repair is an oil change—sometimes you have to take half the car apart to get to the problem. That's the reality of working on modern high-performance European vehicles, and it's why having the right tools and training matters.
Need service, diagnostics, or major repairs on your European or Japanese import? Give us a call!

Today was our first day back from vacation. Took a couple of days down in Arkansas with the family and the Q7. Today was catch up for all the cars dropped off over the weekend. What did you all do on Memorial Day? Any trips in your TDI? Because of course a TDI is one of the best trip rigs...

Here's an introduction into a fun project we're going to do. I got a wrecked Mercedes 190D, and what's the best thing to do with that? Well... probably something completely unreasonable. 😅

The car actually runs and drives, has a clean title, and is too good to scrap — even if it currently doesn't stop right now. (Minor detail.)

So the plan? We're thinking:
• Mercedes Kompressor supercharger
• Maybe a turbo too, because why not?
• Suspension lift
• Bigger wheels and tires
• Roof rack and off-road goodies
• Fixing the brakes so it survives the first test drive
• Making all the lights work again
• And probably a bunch of questionable decisions along the way

Basically we're building a Gambler 500-style diesel Mercedes that absolutely nobody asked for... which makes it even better.

This thing is either going to be awesome or terrible. Maybe both. Stay tuned. 👀

This morning we’ve got this Audi SQ5 in for a very common repair on these Audi platforms… front control arms.

If you own one of these cars, chances are you’ll deal with worn control arms at some point — clunks, loose steering feel, uneven tire wear, and suspension noises are all common symptoms. The good news? My guys have gotten pretty efficient at knocking these jobs out and getting these Audis driving tight and smooth again.

Whether it’s maintenance, diagnostics, suspension work, or major repairs, we’ve got you covered. Give us a call if your Euro or Japanese import needs some attention!
