We do a lot of VW timing belts, but VW isn't the only manufacturer that uses timing belts. This Volvo C30 came in for a new timing belt, along with several other repairs, including engine mounts, oil cooler seals and hoses, and a few other items.
If your car needs a timing belt, give us a call or send us a message, and we'll get you scheduled in.

Who doesn't like a nice, clean engine bay? We definitely do.
This sweet Audi A7 TDI came in yesterday for some work, and with only 25,000 miles on the odometer, it's about as clean as they come. Cars like this are getting harder and harder to find. Definitely a unicorn! 🦄

A stripped oil drain plug can not only be frustrating, but it can also be dangerous. This BMW X5 was towed in after an oil change was performed at a quick-lube shop. The drain plug threads were stripped, allowing much of the oil to drain out.

There are a couple of ways to repair this. One option is to replace the entire oil pan, but on a vehicle like this, that repair can easily cost thousands of dollars. In this case, the customer opted to have us install a Time-Sert oil drain plug repair kit. Not only did it restore the damaged threads, but it actually made the repair better than new. The Time-Sert insert is made of high-carbon steel, so the drain plug now threads into steel instead of aluminum.

The two big lessons here are: quick oil change shops are not the best place to bring a BMW (or any car, for that matter), and sometimes a repair can be both better and less expensive than complete replacement.

Another classic in for repair. This time it's a 1974 BMW 2002. It's got some brake issues and a few other problems that need to be sorted out before it can safely hit the road again. These old cars are always fun to work on, and we're looking forward to getting this one back in shape.

Here we have a photo of the master in his kingdom.
Michael, our rebuilder, loves what he does—and his work shows it. Every starter and alternator that comes through our shop gets torn down, cleaned, inspected, and refinished.
Each component gets the right coating for the job: cast aluminum parts get a stainless steel lacquer with actual stainless steel powder in it, cast iron gets a darker gray cast-blast coating, windings, rotors, and armatures get red electrical varnish, and pulleys, housings, and other parts get black lacquer.
It’s not just about making them look great. These coatings also help protect the components from water, moisture, chemicals, and corrosion—so they’re built to last, not just rebuilt to work.
Whether it's for your car, truck, tractor, boat, industrial equipment, or something a little more unusual, we rebuild starters and alternators in-house right here in Laurie, Missouri. If you need a starter or alternator rebuilt, give us a call at (573) 207-4874 or stop by the shop. We'd be glad to help keep your equipment working for years to come.

She's going back together! This is a pd150 engine from Europe that we're putting together to go in a Jeep. The old engine is out of the Jeep, and now everything is getting transferred that needs to be transferred.
Stay tuned to see the results!

No, this is not latte art...
This is the view inside the oil filter housing of a customer's 2016 BMW X3.
The vehicle came in with an engine rattle, which is pretty common on the N20 engine. Timing chain failures are a well-known issue on these, so that's where we started our diagnosis.

But as soon as we pulled the oil drain plug, we realized it was more than just a timing chain. 😬

This engine suffered a bearing failure, and the amount of metal shavings in the oil made that painfully obvious. Unfortunately, the damage was severe enough that the customer decided it wasn't worth installing another engine.
Some days we get the feel-good stories where everything goes back together and drives off better than ever. Other days, it's carnage like this.

But as the French say, "C'est la vie."

What is an F-150 doing at our shop?
Most everyone who follows our page probably knows that we specialize in foreign cars and generally don't work on domestic vehicles. That's true, with one major exception: starting and charging systems.
If your vehicle has a starter or alternator problem, there's a good chance we can help—and this supercharged F-150 is no exception.
This truck came in with a bad starter. Michael and Braden got it removed, rebuilt, and ready to go back together in the morning. Unlike many of the cheap parts-store starters and alternators on the market today, we rebuild units using quality components and proper procedures to restore them to like-new performance and reliability.
Whether it's a Volkswagen, Audi, Mercedes, tractor, boat, or even a supercharged Ford truck, we're proud to keep quality starter and alternator rebuilding alive.
