This week marks Woodbridge Kart Club's biggest race of the year, the annual AKRA Karting Road Racing Nationals at Summit Point Motorsports Park's 2-mile Summit Point (Main) Circuit.

This is a special race for a number of reasons. WKC’s program has centered around racing at the Main Circuit dating back to the 1970s. In the heyday of road race karting in the 1980s, 1990s and into the 2000s, five to six WKC races a year were held at the Main Circuit, including one National every summer.

Times change, and while Summit Point remains home to WKC, we now race at the Shenandoah, Jefferson and Main circuits with one race at each circuit in 2026. The time for the Summit Point Nationals is just about here, and we have momentum with a very successful Regional held just two weeks ago at the Shenandoah Circuit that attracted nearly 200 race entries, which may be a record for WKC racing at Shenandoah.

With the quick turnaround, we’re looking forward to another big Nationals at Main this weekend, which is always our largest entry count of the year. The race serves as Round 4 of the AKRA / Hoosier Kartsport National Road Racing Series, and Round 3 of the new Ultimate Kart Challenge presented by TS Racing/Vega Tires for 10 classes included in the schedule.

It’s also hard to believe, but the Nationals marks the final WKC race of 2026 after the Jefferson Circuit in April, NCCAR in May, and Shenandoah in July. While there are other road races left on this year’s calendar, including the 5th and final round of the AKRA series at Gingerman (Mich.) Raceway Sept. 18-20, this will be it for the year for WKC road racing at Summit Point and the Mid-Atlantic region!

DID YOU KNOW? Since the 1980s, WKC has hosted a premier summer Road Racing National—formerly part of the National Enduro Series—with WKC club races surrounding the marquee event each year. For many seasons, the race was sanctioned by WKA and served as an annual stop on the organization's National Enduro Series, traditionally held in late July.

📣 IT'S RACE WEEK‼️

This weekend we race Summit Point Motorsports Park's 2-mile Main Circuit with the AKRA Karting / Hoosier Kartsport / Ultimate Kart Challenge presented by Road Racing Nationals set for Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

The Nationals already has nearly 100 racers pre-entered for Friday practice with nearly 3⃣0⃣0⃣ total race entries and some very competitive fields shaping up! There's still time to pre-enter at the lowest prices — until tonight at 11:59pm. Beginning at Midnight Tuesday, entry fees are raised to at-track prices.

THANK YOU to all who attended this past weekend’s WKC Regional Road Race at Summit Point Motorsports Park Shenandoah Circuit! We had a fantastic turnout with nearly 200 race entries between Saturday and Sunday. We believe this to be the largest number of entries for a WKC race at Shenandoah.

Also, a special thank you to the Northeast Karting Challenge racers and teams that supported the event. The partnership boosted Shenandoah entry count and competition, and we hope NKC racers enjoyed themselves.

Dart Kart local-option classes offered at AKRA Karting Summit Point Nationals:

As announced last week, we're offering Mini Swift and Dart Kart Club's G-125 Shifter at the August 14-16 AKRA Summit Point Nationals. In addition, we've added Dart Kart's CIK TaG 125 Rotax Max.

The Rotax class has seen respectable entry counts at both Mid-Ohio and Nelson Ledges this summer. As a result, we wanted to offer the division at Summit Point. Officials will place Rotax in an appropriate class group Saturday and Sunday based on participation.
