Friends,
I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I do miss you all, and am very thankful for the years of getting to know you at Rich's Auto. I hope and pray that things are well with you.
I am slowly adjusting to my new position as the auto instructor at FVCC. To quote a great theologian (and friend :) who went from being the associate pastor at my church to an office manager for an attorney firm, "I went from being the guy who knew everything, to the guy who knew nothing."
I can definitely relate. I had a helpful solution or direction for most people that would come through the Rich's door. It was a good feeling to most of the time, be able to help in some way.
With the teaching job, I'm faced with many challenges and new horizons. From how to effectively teach a lesson that holds the class' attention, to managing 18 teenagers (at once!), and learning how to navigate the school software on my laptop.
A wise man of my school's administration encouraged me with this" Think back when you first opened Rich's Auto, were things as smooth in the beginning?" He was absolutely right, there was a huge learning curve, much like the one that I'm in now.
I remember that dad and I used to go out on every tow call together for quite a while. Many times one of us would have to ride back on the back of the tow truck, hanging on to the orange, rusty, tow truck boom, because we had passengers.
Dad and I supported each other in our learning curve in those early times. Thankfully, I have so much support from my school administrators, fellow teachers, and wonderful wife and family. I can just picture them hanging on to the tow truck boom while I drive. :)
So, spring break is a time for rest, reset and reflection. My cup truly runneth over. In Christ, Russ
