Whiticar Boat Works Founded in 1947, Whiticar is a leader in the marine industry for service, repair and sales. He was creating the foundation of Whiticar Boat Works.

When Curt Whiticar built his first boat in 1925, he didn’t know that he was crafting more than just a recreational fishing boat. Whiticar Boat Works was founded by family, and is run today by that same family. Evolving from the original boat yard located in Stuart, Florida, Whiticar Boat Works has grown to five divisions, all of which are owned and operated by the same family you have come to know and trust for more than 60 years.

Did you know?

Curt built his first boat when he was 14, and by the age of 23, he had designed and built a 33-foot single screw boat called the “Shearwater.” This fishing boat, based on local inlet problems and demanding fishing needs, is the backbone to the design of the modern Whiticar sport fisherman of today. Addison – more fondly known as Capt. Add – had Curt build him a boat shortly afterward in 1938. The “Gannet,” a twin screw 38-footer was Capt. Add’s pride and joy.

Due to ever increasing demand for these boats, Curt moved the Mess Hall from Camp Murphy, at what is now Jonathan Dickinson State Park, and reassembled the wood on a slab at its present location in 1947.

Wiping down the stainless and varnished teak with boat cleaning supplies might not be a bad idea. Why? Because salt will almost immediately start to corrode your boat and form pox.

You'll first start to notice it on the stainless, but the salt will damage the rest of your boat as well if it's not washed away.
