🔧 Spark Plugs: When a Tiny Part Causes a Big Problem

These are spark plugs. The one on the right looks normal. The one on the left? Not so much. 👀

The center electrode came loose and dropped down. When this happens, the spark plug may not fire properly, which can cause the engine to misfire, run rough, lose power, or trigger the check engine light.

Sometimes a big engine problem starts with a very small part.

This is a belt-driven coolant pump, better known as a water pump. 💧🔧

Its job is to keep coolant circulating throughout the engine’s cooling system, helping prevent the engine from overheating.

When a water pump starts to fail, it may leak coolant or the bearing can wear out, often causing noise or wobbling.

It’s one of those parts you don’t think much about—until your temperature gauge starts climbing. 🌡️

Ever wonder what actually happens when you set your parking brake? 👀

This is a parking brake lever. Its job is to engage the parking brake and help keep your vehicle securely in place when parked.

On this one, the spring mechanism broke, preventing the lever from working properly. Sometimes it’s not the brakes themselves—it’s the mechanism that operates them.

Another one of those parts you probably never think about… until it stops working. 🔧

This is a front subframe, and it’s a major part of your vehicle’s undercarriage.

The subframe helps support and connect important suspension and steering components to the vehicle. This one needed to be replaced because the bushings were worn out, allowing too much movement.

Worn subframe bushings can cause clunking noises, vibration, poor handling, uneven tire wear, or alignment issues.

It may be underneath your vehicle where you rarely see it—but it has a pretty important job!

What does a steering gear actually do? 🚗🔧

This is a steering gear, also commonly referred to as a rack and pinion. Its job is to transfer the movement of your steering wheel to the steering linkage, allowing your wheels to turn.

When a hydraulic steering gear begins to fail, one common sign is a power steering fluid leak. You may also notice harder steering, unusual noises, or fluid underneath your vehicle.

Your steering system is pretty important — you definitely want the car going where you point it. 😄

To replace this vehicle’s A/C evaporator, the entire dashboard had to come out. Yep… ALL of that just to reach one component.
