If your car had a soundtrack, it'd be the violin from a scary movie. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŽฌ

I've watched every one of these movies play out in somebody's driveway. And the plot twist is always the same: it was cheaper back when it was just a noise.

Which movie are you in right now? 1โ€“5 ๐Ÿ‘‡ Tag the friend starring in the sequel ๐Ÿ“ค

Every horror movie starts with someone saying "it's probably nothing."

Best Halloween costume this year? Your check engine light. ๐ŸŽƒ

It's orange. It's glowing. And everybody's been ignoring it since July. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Y'all put a piece of tape over it like it's a smoke detector. Turn the radio up so you can't hear the car "talking." Pray at every red light.

I get it. That little light feels like a bill you can't see yet. But most of the time it's something small, and it only turns into something big when you leave it in the dark.

How long has YOUR light been on? Be honest ๐Ÿ‘‡

The light isn't the scary part. Waiting is.

Hot take: your happiest customers are the best marketing team you never hired. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

They LOVE you. They tell their cousin, their coworker, their neighbor. And then theyโ€ฆ never leave a Google review. Because nobody asked. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Some of my favorite customers are the ones who walk out with a cold bottle of water on a hot day. Those people want to help you. Make it easy for them.

A good website and a simple review request turn "I'll tell my cousin" into five stars the whole city can see.

Business owners, how many Google reviews do you have right now? Be honest ๐Ÿ‘‡ Want a setup that asks for you? Comment SITE.

Happy customers don't leave reviews. Asked customers do.

Under the Hood ยท Day 21 of 30

Three weeks in. Here's what all those mistakes taught me:

- Price the knowledge, not the clock.
- Check the market before you start.
- Find your unfair advantage and build around it.
- Keep your heart. Give it a manager.
- Treat every customer like a billboard.
- Make sure people can find you.

None of these came from a book. They came from driveways, late nights, and a lot of learning the hard way.

And through all of it, my faith and my family kept me standing. God was with me in the slow seasons, and Nikki, CJ, Lolo, and Ca Ca are the reason I keep going in the busy ones.

Next week: the turn. How a mechanic who was tired of being hard on his body started building websites, and why I'm helping other business owners get to the other side of the hill.

Yes sir, yes ma'am, thank y'all for riding along. Peace.

Lessons are just mistakes that finally paid you back.

"Must be nice to be your own boss." ๐Ÿ˜

Oh it's NICE. Let me tell you how nice. ๐Ÿ˜‚

My boss makes me work in the heat. My boss makes me work in the cold. My boss told me to charge less when I was starting out. Terrible advice. Should've fired him.

Real talk: I didn't choose this from a beach chair. I got laid off in 2020, and with a wife and kids at home, I bet on myself. Some days it's hard. But every day, I'm working for my family and not somebody else's schedule.

Business owners, what's the dumbest thing your boss (you) ever made you do? ๐Ÿ‘‡

Being your own boss means your worst boss and your biggest fan are the same person.

Your next customer is searching right now. What do they see when they find you?

Business owners: search your business name and your city. What comes up? Be honest ๐Ÿ‘‡

Being the best-kept secret in town is still a secret.

Under the Hood ยท Day 20 of 30

Here's a lesson that changed my whole path.

Word of mouth is powerful. But even when somebody hears about you from a friend, the first thing they do is look you up.

And if they find nothing? No website, no reviews, nothing that shows you're real? A lot of them call the next person who does show up.

So I built my own website for On The Road Again. People were surprised I made it myself. More importantly, people could finally find me.

That's when it clicked. I'd been through the struggle of being good and invisible. I knew exactly how that felt.

That's why I build websites for other business owners now, through FirstCall STL. Not because websites are cool, but because I know what it's like to do great work that nobody can find.

Good work earns the second job. Being found earns the first.

Your car is talking to you. Here's what it's saying. ๐Ÿ”Š

16 years, and I promise you: the noise you ignore today is the bill you pay tomorrow. Grinding brakes don't get quieter. They get more expensive. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Save this ๐Ÿ“Œ and send it to the friend who turns the radio up so they don't have to hear it.

Hear one of these right now? Tell me which one ๐Ÿ‘‡

Turning the radio up is not a repair.

Word of mouth is still the strongest advertising there is. It's just slower than people want.

Who's a business you'd recommend to anybody, no hesitation? Shout them out ๐Ÿ‘‡

Your reputation drives to the next job before you do.
