🔧 MISFIRE DIAGNOSIS AT CLARK’S GARAGE 🔧

This Malibu came in with a check-engine light and a cylinder #3 misfire. Instead of guessing and replacing parts, I started with proper diagnosis and inspection.

The cause became pretty clear — the #3 spark plug wire was completely severed. While inspecting the rest of the ignition system, I found the neighboring plug wire damaged and partially cut through as well.

Both damaged wires were replaced, codes and misfire data were rechecked, and the Malibu was taken on a road test under load with the A/C and electrical accessories running.

✅ No further misfires
✅ Smooth under load
✅ Repair verified on the road
✅ Ready to go back to the customer

Whether the damage was caused by an animal, rubbing, or some other outside source isn’t certain — but the important part is finding the actual problem before replacing unnecessary parts.

🔧 MINI Cooper Suspension Repair — Clark’s Garage

This MINI Cooper came back in with a clunk/pop over bumps, so we got it back in the garage and tracked down the source.

The culprit: worn front sway bar end links.

These links were definitely ready to be replaced — during removal, the ball studs actually popped completely out of the worn sockets on both old links.

✅ Both sway bar end links replaced

✅ Repair completed and test driven

🔧 ANOTHER ONE FIXED AT CLARK’S GARAGE! 🔧

This Chevy Cobalt came in with an intermittent limp-mode/transmission issue that needed more than just throwing parts at it.

After going through the vehicle, scanning multiple modules, checking codes and transmission data, the problem was narrowed down to the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

✅ Diagnosed transmission/communication concerns
✅ Located a compatible replacement TCM
✅ Installed the replacement module
✅ Programmed it to the vehicle using GM SPS2 / factory programming
✅ Cleared faults and verified operation
✅ Multiple test drives performed — shifting properly and no more limp-mode issue

The Cobalt has now been picked up and is back on the road. 💪

🔧 Check Engine Light Doesn’t Always Mean a Big Repair

Had a Chevy S-10 come back to Clark’s Garage after previous fuel-system repairs because the check-engine light had come on.

Instead of guessing or replacing more parts, I scanned the truck, checked the fault and went back through the system. The issue ended up coming down to the gas cap/EVAP system — not a failure of the previous repair.

Sometimes the diagnosis is a major repair. Sometimes it’s something simple. The important part is testing it and finding out before spending money on parts you don’t need.

If your check-engine light is on, your vehicle is running poorly, or you’ve got an electrical/mechanical problem nobody has pinned down, I have openings available this week.

🔧 Electrical Diagnosis — Chevy Trailblazer

Another one where testing beats throwing parts at it.

This Trailblazer came into Clark’s Garage with an engine fault that needed tracked down. After checking the codes, wiring diagrams and testing the circuit, I traced the problem down to damaged wiring at an ignition-coil connector.

The damaged wiring was repaired for testing and the circuit was rechecked. The vehicle will be getting a new connector/pigtail and proper permanent wiring repair.

Electrical problems can get expensive fast when parts start getting replaced without knowing what’s actually wrong. I prefer to test the circuit, find the failure, and repair the actual problem.

🔧 ANOTHER ONE FINISHED AT CLARK’S GARAGE! 🔧

This 2014 Buick Enclave came in with worn front suspension components and was due for transmission maintenance.

✅ Both front lower control arms replaced
✅ New control-arm bushings and ball joints
✅ Transmission fluid drained and refilled with fresh Dexron VI
✅ Fluid level checked at the proper operating temperature
✅ Repair completed and vehicle test-driven

🔧 Sometimes the repair doesn’t come apart nicely…so you make a way.

This 2014 Toyota 4Runner came into Clark’s Garage with an intermittent shifter issue, a missing Drive indicator, a check-engine light, and a blinking 4LO light. Diagnostic testing revealed code P0705 and led me to a failing park/neutral position switch.

The switch had corroded and seized solidly onto the transmission selector shaft—it wasn’t sliding off without a fight. I carefully removed the rivets with a Dremel, broke the switch down piece by piece, and worked the seized inner sleeve free without damaging the transmission shaft.

A new genuine Toyota switch was installed and properly adjusted. This is exactly why proper diagnosis matters: several warning lights and strange symptoms can all trace back to one failed component.

🔧 2001 Ford Ranger 4.0L – Spark Plug & Wire Replacement

Another Ford Ranger back in the shop! This 2001 4.0L came in needing some ignition maintenance, so we replaced all 6 spark plugs and the complete spark plug wire set.

The old plugs showed plenty of wear and corrosion, with some significant deterioration around the plug ends. New Motorcraft plugs and wires were installed to help ensure a strong, reliable ignition system. ⚡️
