Cup Karts North America North Rd. 3 @ Norway Motorsports Park recap:

With the CKNA North Championship on the line, there was plenty of speed for the #111 Coyote Motorsports Kryptonite claiming P1 pole position BOTH days 🏆 and going purple multiple sessions in a field separated by tenths 💪🏼 the Lawson Speed Shop power was hummin!

Saturday: Heat 1 & 2 winner 🏆

-playing with his friends, Will took a soccer ball to the eye with his glasses on right before the final, we iced it the best we could be he did not have any fire in him going out in the final on pole - by the 2nd corner he went from 1st to 4th. A few laps later he pressed a little too hard and spun trying a move and finished last - he was devastated for sure knowing what was on the line 😢 but he still had a shot Sunday

Sunday: Only way to win the Championship was to win the final

Heat 1: finished 2nd after starting on pole

Final: kept 2nd place on the start which was huge - the leader and Will developed a nice gap over 3rd & 4th and the shootout was on.

Will made a great pass for the lead down the backstretch and defended the inside, but going into the hairpin the outside kart turned down into Will which resulted in a failure to leave room to race penalty on them, but both karts were taken out of the lead of the race.

All Will could do was watch the field, the race win, and championship win go right by him. (Video in comments)

We were all devastated for him with the pace he showed all season and how hard he tried, he was consistently the kart to beat - it’s so hard to open that helmet full of tears, but he will have his day!

(1) Win
(2) 2nds

This championship gave us our share of bad luck and then some being taken out of 2 different races while leading, and 2 other penalties that were called warnings also affected our points. BUT, it is better to have been in position to win a championship and lost it then to have not even been a factor; it was a heck of a drive, dude 🏁

Cup Karts North America ‘26 Summer Nationals recap 🏁

Overall, a positive take can be made for a trying weekend where another National podium slips through the cracks despite showing P2 pace in many sessions 🤷🏻‍♂️

Will got to race and play with his IndyCar hero Scott Dixon’s son, Kit, which was a totally cool experience!! They were incredible to be around and very down to earth, we won’t forget that experience ever and hope to reunite at Grand Nationals 🏆 Scott even remembered signing Will’s race helmet a few years ago 😎

The good 😊:

Friday practice: P2, P2, P3, P2 ⚡️
Great times with the Dixon’s and Meurer’s and the rest of our CKNA friends 👊🏼

The ugly 🤦🏻‍♂️:

Qualifying: (P10) - ☔️ rain session, which Will excels in the rain, so we were not too worried about that part, but Dad made a HUGE air pressure mistake in the rear which slowed Will down tremendously and made him loose and ended with a spin - another kart hit him and snapped the right front tie rod and the session was over

Heat 1: (P9) - ☀️ dry session and Will moved up from 10th to 7th but got ran off into the grass on a straight and lost the 3 spots he gained just like that - passed 1 more kart to finish 9th

Heat 2: (P13 last) - ☔️ rain session with a much better setup looking to make up spots still trying to reach a podium - Lap 1 kart spins in front of Will with no where to go and clips the left front on their kart and snaps the left tie rod this time, session over no spots gained and finished last

Final: (P9) ☔️ last min rain session, quick change from dry slicks to wet rains on the grid under pressure, Will did his best and drove to 9th, but wasn’t the finish we had hoped for heading into the weekend with P2 speed and capability

Pops, we missed you this year at Nationals, but we knew you were there 🪽
