That squeal isn't going away on its own. 🚗💨

Your serpentine belt runs your alternator, power steering, A/C, and on a lot of vehicles, your water pump. When it goes, you can lose all of that at once: heavy steering, a dead battery, and an engine that starts running hot.

The good news is that catching it early is quick and affordable. Waiting is what turns a cheap part into a tow truck call, usually at the worst possible time.

That squeal you hear when you start your car in the morning?

Don't IGNORE it.

Nine times out of ten that's your serpentine belt telling you it's drying out or cracking, and once it's gone... it takes a lot with it. We're talking your charging system, power steering, and engine cooling all at once, since one belt runs all of it.

The GOOD NEWS is this one's easy to catch early.

Pop your hood and take a look at the belt ribs (the grooved side). If you see cracks running across them, or the belt looks glazed and shiny, it's on borrowed time. Squealing on cold starts is usually the first sign something's wearing thin.

If it's been a while since anyone's looked at yours, swing by and we'll check it in a few minutes while you wait. Cheaper to replace on YOUR schedule than on the side of the road on theirs!

A timing belt is one of those parts you probably never think about... until it breaks. And unfortunately, by then, the damage may already be done. 😬

We recently had a vehicle come into the shop after the timing belt snapped while the driver was on her way to work. On certain engines, a broken timing belt doesn't just leave you stranded. It can cause serious engine damage in a matter of seconds.

Here's why: your timing belt keeps critical parts inside your engine moving in perfect sync. In what's called an 'interference' engine, if that belt breaks, valves and pistons can collide. And those are two things you definitely don't want meeting each other.

The tricky part? Timing belts don't always give you a warning before they fail. They can wear from the inside out, which is why following your vehicle's recommended replacement interval matters.

Meet Brandon, who has been part of our Chloe’s Spring team since the day we opened our doors!

His passion for cars goes way back. As a teenager, Brandon actually helped the Houston Police Department make an arrest after recognizing the year, make and model of a vehicle from blurry surveillance footage when no one else had been able to identify it!🚗 Safe to say, he knows his cars.

And here’s something you might not expect: Brandon is also a big animal lover and has a green-cheek conure named Loki.

Brandon is proud to be part of our family business and is looking forward to continuing to contribute as Chloe’s grows. We’re pretty proud to have had him along for the ride since day one in Spring!

Let's talk transmission fluid for a minute, because it's one of those things that quietly does a lot of work and doesn't get much credit. That fluid keeps everything inside your transmission cool, lubricated, and shifting the way it should. Without it (or with old, worn out fluid), things start working harder than they need to, which can lead to rough shifting or bigger repairs down the road.

In this brutal summer heat, that fluid breaks down faster than folks expect. All that stop and go traffic and warm pavement puts extra strain on it. Most manufacturers recommend a transmission service every 30,000 to 60,000 miles, but if yours has never been touched or it's been a long while, it might be time.

Some signs to watch for: slipping gears, delayed shifting, or a burnt smell under the hood.
