3 in 3

Stands for 3 accidents in a 3 year period.

You will get a letter from the state telling you to take a 12 hour ADI (Advanced Driver Improvement) course and complete a 4 hours of behind the wheel training. You must have that letter when going on your 4 hours drive

We do both! ADI and behind the wheel training!

An extended road test at the DMV is required after completing the ADI and behind the wheel training.

Manditory Traffic School

There are 4 offenses in Florida that are Manditory Traffic School:

316.075 Running a Red Light (Officer issued ticket)
316.172 Passing a Stopped School Bus
316.191 Racing on a Highway
316192 Reckless Driving (not careless driving)

YOU MUST take traffic school for these offenses.

It benefits you to elect to take it when paying your ticket. This way you will keep the points from going on your license AND satisfy the DMV for the manditory offense.

If you don't elect to take traffic school when you pay your ticket you will get a letter in the mail stating you must take it by a certain date or you license will be suspended.

A question I get everyday...I got a ticket how can I go to Traffic School and what will it do for me?

Traffic School will keep the points from going on your motor vehicle record.

Every moving violation in Florida gets points. By taking traffic school you will keep these points from going on your license. You have the rights to ELECT traffic school once in a 12 month period 5 times in your lifetime.

If taking the course for a moving violation with no accident it is state law that the insurance company cannot raise your rates in Florida.

If taking the course for a moving violation with an accident, the insurance company has the right to raise your rates to recoop money that they have paid out however by taking the class you will not get the points assessed and it will keep the insurance company from raising your rates again when they see the points.

You don't want points! It can cause your insurance rates to go up. If you get to many points you risk a license suspension. Some employers won't touch you if you have points, as their commercial insurance would be to costly to have you on their payroll.

I got a ticket, want to go to school what do I do?

You have 30 days to pay your ticket.

In most counties:

If you want to go to traffic school you sign the affidavit or click the button if paying online when you pay the ticket (that withholds your points).

You MUST let them know when paying the ticket!

You have 60 or 90 to turn the certificate of completion in, depending on the county rules where you got your ticket.
Each county has different rules so make sure you follow them for the county where you got the ticket.

Once you complete the course, you return the certificate back to the clerk of the court where you got your ticket. Failure to do so will result in additional fines and a possible license suspension.

Driving Exam Day-

You must be at least 16 years old.
If under 18 you must have held a permit to drive for 12 months. You must have no moving violations during the time you held your permit or you may have one violation if adjudication is withheld.

An appointment is needed.

If under 18, must bring a parent/guardian or have a notarized consent form verifying that you've had 50 hours of driving experience 10 of which was night time driving.

Bring your permit and $6.25 as long as there is no address change. If you have an address change must provide 2 pieces of mail with the new address and there will be an address change fee of approx $25.

Must provide your own car along with the registration and proof of insurance. A car inspection will be conducted by the examiner before the test begins.

Steps to obtaining a permit:
1. Must take the TLSAE course (Drug and Alcohol).
2. Study Handbook.
3. Under 18 you are allowed to take the permit test online.
Over 18 must take the permit test at the DMV.
4. Will need birth certificate and social security card.

Permit test is available for under 18.

Once you obtain permit you can drive with a licensed driver 21 or older next to you. Must observe time restrictions.

15-17 years -must hold permit for 12 months or until you turn 18.
