Obituary
Billy Bert Noah 05/12/1939 - 03/26/2024
The checkered flag fell on Billy - “Wild Bill” - Bert Noah as he drove into God’s Winner’s Circle and finished the race of life after almost 85 years. For over 40 years, Bill and his wife Mary owned and operated Bill Noah’s Garage in Southside where he served the community by providing trustworthy and reliable mechanic work. “Wild Bill” was a champion dirt track driver, winning multiple track championships over his 20+ year racing career at the former Del-Ed Speedway, Gadsden Speedway, and Green Valley Speedway. Bill was also a dedicated employee at the Goodyear plant, working as a millwright for more than 20 years until his retirement. Bill also enjoyed watching Alabama Crimson Tide football and Atlanta Braves baseball games.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Bessie (Cox) Noah and his five older siblings Pernie (Charlie) Dunn, Mildred (Robert) Franks, Tom (Gloria) Noah, and Bob Noah.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Mary Emma Coker Noah and their four children: Greg (Lisa) Noah, Kelly (Jeff) Barron, David Noah, and Paul Noah. Bill was also “Papaw” to four grandchildren: Joshua (Lawrence Leto) Noah, Christopher (Heather) Noah, Amanda (Michael) Horne, and Zachary Noah; seven great-grandchildren: Joseph, O., & Aaron Silva-Noah; Austin (Makenzie) Schatz, Bailey Schatz, Alyssa Noah, and Nicholas Noah; and one great-great-grandchild: Preston Schatz. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Martha Noah and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors at Southside United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 30 from 10:00 am to 12 noon followed immediately by the funeral service, with Rev. Davis Johnson and Rev. Joshua Noah co-presiding. Burial will take place at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Christopher Noah, Austin Schatz, Nicholas Noah, Zachary Noah, Harold Waddell, Richard Agnew, and Jeff Barron.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to Southside United Methodist Church.

The family wishes to express special thanks to the nurses and staff of Riverview Regional Medical Center, Dr. Dan Sparks, the staff of Gentiva Hospice, Rev. Davis Johnson, and Southside United Methodist Church .
