HDRA Drag Racing for Everybody We are the only organization that has brought legal drag racing to CT.

We are now leading an effort to build a multi-purpose motorsports facility, with both short distance as well as conventional length drag racing as the main focus. HDRA will sanction the short track, and we believe IHRA will sanction the big track.

We have a ROUGH DRAFT of the 2015 Rules for the Holeshot Drags posted on our website: HoleshotDrags.com. No doubt that there will be revisions. Your CONSTRUCTIVE input is appreciated.

Some changes from previous years: 1. Passengers will be allowed in "Street". 2. Teenagers 13-15 will be allowed to compete in "Street". Must have parent or guardian with them, and the car is restricted to a 4 cylinder compact that can't go faster than 3.50 seconds. 3. Helmets not required in "Street" in cars going 3.00 and slower.

We've already announced other changes. A couple of them are that PRO ET (formally "Comp") will be running for money. The amount paid out will increase as car counts go up. PRO ET will also have a second chance race for those eliminated first round to buy back into another race, giving them another opportunity to run for points and money.

This is only the tip of the iceburg!

We're developing a new website: HoleshotDrags.com - We just got it up and running a few minutes ago (as we write this), so there is no content of significance for the moment. The rest of our day will be devoted to other parts of our business, which is the continuation of the development of the Connecticut National Dragway project. Late tonight and tomorrow morning we will start posting schedules, news, etc. SPREAD THE WORD! SHARE, SHARE, SHARE, if you want to see the Holeshot Drags thrive!!!

One of the many details that we need to take care of are the rules. We will be using a very simplified version of the IHRA Rulebook to base our rules on. This only makes sense, as we will be sanctioned by the IHRA at Connecticut National Dragway when we open. Their rulebook may be viewed free of charge if you go to their website: IHRA.com and click the "Competition" heading. Again, we're only using a fraction of their rules, as most of the items wouldn't apply to us. Following their format gives a solid foundation for us to work with.

It's been a couple months since we posted here, but that's going to change now. we'll be posting more often.

First, we're still moving forward with the Connecticut National Dragway project. It's a complicated and expensive project that requires countless details and steps to take. Long gone are the days where you could take a dozer, clear some land, pave a strip, and go racing. This is why we won't be open until sometime in 2016, and most likely just weekends for the first season.

So meanwhile, the new operators of the Speedbowl have approached HDRA to come back to run their Friday night Holeshot Drag program. We're going to accept that offer. We are delighted to come back to the 'Bowl for the 2015 season. Tentative opener is Friday night may 22nd.

We will be announcing the schedule in the next day or so here. While we will be doing mostly Friday nights, we do have a couple Sunday specials. On July 19th we will be bringing back the "Connecticut Dragwayfest 2", a Nostalgia Drag event with flag starts only, no tree. Included that day will be a themed car show, a Top Fuel Cacklefest, Swap Meet and more! It'll be huge!

We're also doing the "Motorcycle Mania" on Sunday August 9th. It'll include Motorcycle Drags as well as a Motorcycle Show, but we're also going to try to get a Stunt Show and a couple Nitro Harleys as well. Vendors will be welcome as well.

For those that have been with us in the past, you will be seeing many changes. We'll be using the same point system as IHRA. It just makes far more sense than what has been used in the past. The Comp cars will now be called Pro Eliminator, and they will be running for cash. Prize money will be determined by the number of cars in the field (purse structure will be posted in a day or so). We plan to add a 60' time on the time slip. Pro Eliminator will have a Second Chance Race for those that go out first round (2nd chance to win points and money). While we can't spray the track, we can still drag it. We're looking to build a tire drag to lay down racing rubber in the groove. We're also looking to have a power broom on hand as well.

The Bike class will remain essentially the same, but Street will have a couple changes. With some restrictions, Street will be allowed passengers. Helmets will be optional for cars going 3.00 seconds and slower. More details in the next day or so.

Other changes will be coming as well that will make our operation an entirely new and professional experience. Stay tuned!
