Wreaths Across America is a beautiful tribute to the men and women who have served our country. Today is Wreaths Across America Day, the day on which the wreaths are laid in Arlington National Cemetery and 1,600 other cemeteries. Organized by Worcester Wreath, based right here in Maine, this effort strives to remember fallen servicemen and women, honor all veterans, and teach the value of freedom.

Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as over 1,200 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad. Help us by sponsoring Veterans....

As expected. But we’re Mainers. We got this!

A Citywide Parking Ban has been declared beginning Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 10:00 PM through 6:00 AM Monday, January 21. Vehicles left on City streets after 10:00 PM can be towed at the owner’s expense.

Due to the severity of the storm, and the fact that it is falling on a Sunday, the City would like to encourage residents to access snow ban lots tonight (Saturday, January 19). This will allow plow crews to have full access of city streets during the storm on Sunday, and allow residents to stay home during the worst of the storm. Residents may keep their cars in these lots from Saturday night through 8:00 AM on Monday, January 21. (Please keep in mind that typically cars must be out of snow ban lots by 7:00 AM, but an exception is being made given it is a holiday and schools are not in session.)

The City is also offering a special snow ban rate at both Elm & Spring St garages tonight and tomorrow night. In after 5 PM tonight, out by Monday at 8 AM = $6! Anything outside of those hours will be charged at the hourly rate. Elm Street will also be open on Sunday (it's usually closed.)

Yellow Zone Parking Ban Declared for Friday, February 10 at 10:00 PM

PORTLAND, Maine -- A Yellow Zone Parking Ban has been declared beginning tonight at 10:00 PM (Friday, February 10) through 6:00 AM Saturday, February 11. Vehicles left on City streets after 10:00 PM can be towed at the owner’s expense.

The Yellow Zone snow ban is used to allow crews to perform snow hauling following major snow storms. It is important to clear the narrow downtown streets, especially in light of another major storm coming Sunday into Monday. The Yellow Zone includes the downtown district bounded by Cumberland Avenue, Franklin Street, Commercial Street, and State Street. Click here for a map of the Yellow Zone.
