NOW HIRING! We are in need of a porter for our Chevy/CDJR store, Sour Lake Motor Company. This individual will be responsible for a variety of tasks including occasionally driving a customer home from dropping off a vehicle for service (close by), sweeping up our shop floors and cleaning spills, picking up debris etc. You would also do some light housekeeping duties like vacuuming a few rugs, cleaning up spills in shop and showroom and the like. Position will also require ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds, use pallet jacks or dolly to move cargo. Also may be required to test drive customer vehicles as needed to verify a potential issue and/or to test drive vehicles after repair to ensure repair is complete and issue is resolved. May be called on rarely to wash a car if we need the help in the car wash. You will spend a majority of your work hours outside walking long distances around our complex and be inside our shop so you will be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Experience around vehicles and repair facilities is a big plus. I have no potential applicants to fit this position and I'm ready to fill this position ASAP. Please come to our Chevy showroom and fill out an application then ask for Dalton Ivie, our service manager, for an in person interview. Interviews available Monday-Friday 9am till 4pm. This job will pay $12/hour to start, time and a half for overtime, and will be a full-time position working Monday-Friday 7am till 6pm (50 work hours with 1 hour lunch break daily) with benefits available including employer sponsored health insurance with employer paying 1/2 of the individual employees premium, a free $10,000 term life insurance policy, 1 week paid vacation after 1 year and 2 weeks after 3 years. Optional to enroll in Aflac products like disability, sickness, accident, life, cancer coverage at employee expense. You MUST ABSOLUTELY have a valid drivers license with no restrictions other than wearing glasses/contacts to be even considered. You must also be willing to have a background check at our expense. This week, we drop in on Rayford Taylor, our Parts Director at Sour Lake Chevy and Sour Lake CDJR.

Rayford will be celebrating his 27th anniversary with us on the 20th of this month and we are sure glad to have him in our corner. Ray lived and worked in various parts of Texas and the country before settling down in SETX.

When he's not working, you can find him participating in his favorite hobby...woodworking.

Ray says he loves the people he works with and gets to meet because "they're all just good people". Thanks Ray, we think the same of you! and congratulations on 27 years as part of our family.

It's a new year, but we're continuing the tradition of spotlighting our employees. This week, it is Phil Premazon. Phil is one of our Service Advisors at our Ford store here in Sour Lake.

Phil is originally from Boerne, but after meeting his wife, he quickly made SETX home. He says our small friendly style fits him perfectly and raves about both his co-workers and working at Sour Lake Ford.
