HOW TO TELL IF YOUR VEHICLE IS OVERDUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE:

1. Engine Noise.
2. Excessive Exhaust
3. A Burning Smell
4. Dark Textured Oil
5. Check Engine or Oil Change Light On In Vehicle
6. Increased Fuel Consumption

Because the frequency of oil changes a car requires varies over time, you may not know when it is time for an oil change. When you are overdue for an oil change, your engine runs on dirty oil.

Eventually, the contaminants in the dirty oil clog up your oil filters. Unfiltered oil is abrasive and causes more wear on engine components. Contaminated oil cannot lubricate engine parts well, so your engine wears more quickly.

You risk engine failure when you neglect oil changes, so you must be aware of warning signs of an overdue oil change.

If you're unsure when your last oil change was or if you're not sure if your vehicle needs an oil change, give us a call or stop by one of our locations and we'll help you determine whether your vehicle is in need of an oil change.

Most mechanics recommend changing your motor oil every three months or 3,000 miles. Doing so results in your vehicle performing better and lasting longer, so knowing how to change your oil is a great skill to have.

Here are the steps needed to "properly" change your oil:

1. Prepare your vehicle by reaching normal operating temperature. (Makes the oil easy to drain)
2. Raise vehicle so you can access the drain plug.
3. Drain the oil.
4. Remove the old oil filter.
5. Install new oil filter.
6. Add fresh motor oil. (See your vehicle manual for type of oil)
7. Lower vehicle back down.
8. Check the oil level.
9. Clean up.
10. Properly discard old oil.

There you have it, how to properly change the oil in your vehicle yourself...or you can remove the hassle by brining it in to one of our locations and one of our professional l**e technicians would be happy to do it for you!

Oil Sludge Buildup is Real!
Can you tell which engine is clean and which one has sludge? Get it right and we'll send you a coupon for $10 off your next visit.

How to Avoid Oil Sludge Buildup...

To avoid engine-killing sludge buildup, you must pick the right oil change schedule:

Normal Driving…or Severe Driving?
• Begin by reviewing your owner’s manual.
• Most manuals include two schedules-Normal & Severe.
• Highway driving is easy on cars (Normal).
• Short trips and traffic are extremely hard on cars (Severe).
• City Driving-stop and go driving, is severe driving.
• What is right for your vehicle and your driving habits?
• Whichever you do more often determines normal or severe.
• It’s your decision, but be realistic.
• If there’s doubt, use the severe service schedule or stop by one of our locations and we'll tell you if your car is due for an oil change.

What is your favorite movie/tv car? 🚗

How about the 1967 Ford Mustang GT500, 'Gone in 60 Seconds'?

The 2000 remake of "Gone in 60 Seconds" dazzled with its vast car lineup. The one that stands out the most has got to be the black-striped 1967 Ford Mustang (code name: "Eleanor"). Of the 11 Mustangs created for the movie, only three weren't shells — and two of those were destroyed, according to Motor Authority. The one left, driven by Nicolas Cage as the movie ended, sold at auction for an eye-popping $1 million in 2013.

Pro Tip: Keep your car battery clean.

Corrosion can form on the terminals of your battery. If you don’t keep them clean, the battery cannot function properly, stranding you. Test your battery at least twice a year and inspect it for corrosion. Since a quality car battery can cost upwards of $100—and a tow can run you even more—a wire brush and a few minutes is money well spent.

Maintenance Tip: Don't forget to change your air filter.

An air filter is a straightforward component in the air intake that keeps the air going into the engine clean of contaminants. The screen keeps out bugs, water, road grime, pollen, dirt, and everything that blows into your vehicle’s grill.

Check your owner's manual; it should tell you when your air filter should be replaced. This is generally every 12,000 to 15,000 miles, depending on your vehicle. If you have driven more than that since the last time you replaced the air filter, it's probably time to change it.
