🔹 Entry-Level / Junior Suspension Technician
Ideal for mechanically inclined candidates starting a career in automotive or motorsports
Full training provided
Hands-on work with high-performance shock absorbers and suspension components
🔹 Part-Time Suspension Technician
Flexible schedule
Ideal for experienced technicians, motorsports enthusiasts, or professionals seeking part-time work
Hands-on damper service and restoration work
🔹 Experienced Suspension Technician
Advanced damper rebuilding, fabrication, and prototype development
Ideal for automotive or motorsports professionals seeking specialized suspension work
🛠 What You’ll Be Working On
Rebuilding and tuning shock absorbers and dampers
Restoring historic and specialty suspension components
Fabricating and machining precision metal parts
Supporting prototype and product development projects
Working in a clean, professional motorsports-focused shop
✅ What We’re Looking For
Mechanical experience in automotive, motorsports, or related fields
Bicycle mechanic experience is a strong advantage, especially suspension service
Comfort working with precision components and small tolerances
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Willingness to learn and work as part of a small, skilled team
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Basic computer skills (Windows)

Performance Shock inc, an established and leading high end suspension engineering and race car parts company based at Sonoma Raceway is in search of motivated & enthusiastic persons with a passion for motorsports! The desire and ability to learn is paramount and rewarding in this exciting and fast paced environment.

We currently have the following positions open:

JOB TITLE: Shock Absorber Technician

REPORTS TO: Service Manager

STATUS: Full Time Position – 40 hour week

Primary Objective: To build & service high performance shock absorbers and related suspension components.

Requirements:

A passion for Motorsports!
Hands on mechanical experience in the Automotive industry, Motorsport experience an advantage but not requisite
A desire to learn about race car shock absorbers and suspension engineering
Familiarity with the use of fabrication equipment: Lathe, Mill, Power & Air tools
Familiarity with general shop etiquette
Team oriented with excellent communication skills (including written)
Ability to work in a clean room with attention to detail and small delicate parts
Possess customer relation and people skills
Conduct themselves in a professional manner
Must have a reliable personal vehicle & valid Drivers License
Ability to display a positive attitude toward company, customers and products
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Develop & maintain comprehensive product knowledge in Auto/Race Parts and their use
Computers (Basic general knowledge)

UPDATE. PSi remains open, we are receiving deliveries from all major carriers (inbound service work) and are shipping finished service jobs and new parts orders. However, we are closed to walk-in customers. For our local customers here at the track, we have set up a 'WILL CALL' shelf, for completed service jobs or new damper builds. New orders for plumbing, springs and ancillary parts) can be placed over the phone (707) 938-5664 or via e-mail at [email protected] and picked up within an hour. We are doing our part to keep the potential contact with human beings outside our team.
