Meet Meet Calliope, our Pet of the Week from Forever Paws Animal Shelter! 🐾
Are you looking for a sweet, chill, older lady to share your space with? Calliope is your gal. She's the kind of older lady that carries candy in her purse and gives you money every time she sees you, not the kind that yells at cashiers and waitstaff...just FYI.
Calliope just turned seven years old and she's about 46lbs. Records from her previous owner have her listed as a German Shepherd mix - mixed with what, we don't know, but she's got an award-winning smile and perfect white socks on her front feet.
Calliope is a timid girl at first but it's understandable - if a dog isn't used a shelter setting, it can be overwhelming. It doesn't take much for her to warm up though and once she does, she's a love that has no problem rubbing all of her itchy spots all over you...and she has a lot of those. We're working on getting her allergies under control and they seem to be seasonal/environmental rather than based on diet/food.
Again, Calliope is just a chill, mature lady looking for a snuggle buddy. She likes her walks and likes investigating all of the different smells. She does well with other dogs but prefers to sort of do her own things. She previously lived with cats and did well with them too...again, just sort of did her own thing. We would prefer kids 12+ just because we don't know if she's ever been around smaller kids.
She hasn't shown much interest in toys while she's been here but that could change once she gets more comfy with her surroundings and all the new people...or she could just be a cute, decorative couch potato that rubs her face on you for scratchies.
