After a long New England winter, the New England Saltwater Fishing Show is back and we are beyond excited to welcome everyone for an incredible weekend celebrating the sport we all love.

Whether you’re chasing stripers, gearing up for tuna season, or just dreaming about that first spring bite — this is where it all starts.

The Bahamas have some new regulations!

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO!

1. AIS Requirement

All foreign vessels must be equipped with an operational Automatic Identification System (AIS) over 50’ at all times while in Bahamian waters—including when docked or anchored.
• Keeping AIS off or not operating it carries a $1,000 fine .

2. Cruising Permit & Fishing Permit Fees

Fees for pleasure vessels have changed considerably:

Temporary Cruising Permit (up to 12 months)
• Vessels ≤ 34 ft: $500 (up from $300)
• Vessels > 34 ft to 100 ft: $1,000 (up from $500)
• Vessels > 100 ft: $3,000

Fishing Permit

No longer bundled with the cruising permit; fee is now separate:
• ≤ 34 ft: $100
• > 34 ft: $300

Example: A 30‑ft boat now pays $500 + $100 = $600 instead of the previous $300 (with fishing included).

3. Frequent Digital Cruising Card (FDCC)

A new option for regular visitors:
• Unlimited visits over a 2-year period, tied to vessel registration.
• Fees vary based on vessel length:
• ≤ 34 ft: $1,500
• 34–100 ft: $2,500
• 100 ft: $8,000

4. Anchorage Fees

Boats anchoring outside marinas will incur daily anchorage fees (up to 12 months):
• ≤ 34 ft: $200
• 34–100 ft: $350
• 100 ft: $1,500

5. Passenger Tax

If a pleasure vessel carries more than three passengers aged 6+ who are non-residents, each extra passenger is taxed $30 .

6. Permit Validity & Re-Entry
• Temporary permits allow two entries within a 30-day period.
• Even with multiple port calls within that span, only two entries are permitted before needing a new permit or FDCC .
