NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC
PRIVATE PARKING ENFORCEMENT – SKIPPERS COVE MARINA

Effective Thursday, July 23, 2026, all Skippers Cove Marina parking lots (parking spaces marked in yellow) on the Joe Miller side are designated as private parking reserved exclusively for Skippers Cove Marina tenants and boat rental customers.

Why This Change Is Necessary -

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has closed the Narrows Day Use Area, Narrows Parking Lots, and Narrows Launch Ramp. As a result, parking demand on the Joe Miller side will increase significantly.

These changes are beyond Skippers Cove Marina's control. To ensure continued access for our marina tenants and boat rental customers, we must reserve the available parking for those who have boats moored at the marina and for our rental customers.

We understand this change may be inconvenient and appreciate your patience and cooperation as we adapt to these circumstances.

Parking Permit Required -

All vehicles parked in designated Skippers Cove Marina parking lots must clearly display a valid Skippers Cove Marina Parking Permit.

Any vehicle parked in a designated marina parking lot without a valid parking permit is subject to towing at the owner's expense.

Visitor Parking -

Due to the closure of the nearby U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facilities at the Narrows Recreation Area, parking for visitors using U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Day Use Passes or Annual Passes will be extremely limited. Visitors are encouraged to plan accordingly and expect reduced parking availability.

Enforcement -

Signs identifying the private marina parking areas will be posted at each designated parking lot.

A security officer may be present during the transition to assist visitors and answer questions. However, the parking permit requirement and parking restrictions are in effect at all times, regardless of whether a security officer is on site.

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we implement these changes to ensure continued parking access for our marina tenants and customers.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Unit is reminding boaters to stay safe and boat responsibly during the busy Fourth of July weekend.

Local waterways, including Bullard's Bar Reservoir, Camp Far West Reservoir, Collins Lake, Englebright Reservoir, the Feather River, and the Yuba River, are expected to see heavy traffic, high temperatures, and increased boating activity.

From July 3 through July 5, the Marine Patrol Unit will participate in Operation Dry Water, a nationwide boating-under-the-influence awareness and enforcement campaign. Deputies will increase patrols and focus on impaired operation, reckless boating, excessive speed, and life jacket compliance.

Boaters are also reminded to slow to 5 mph whenever safe to do so when passing within 100 feet of a law enforcement vessel displaying flashing blue warning lights, as required by California Harbors and Navigation Code §652.5(d). Slowing down and minimizing wake helps protect deputies, boaters, and the public during enforcement contacts and emergency responses.

“Everyone deserves to return home safely after enjoying our waterways,” said Deputy Will Davis of the Yuba County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol Unit. “Boating under the influence is just as dangerous as driving impaired. We ask boaters to operate responsibly, wear life jackets, and give deputies room when blue lights are activated.”

The Sheriff’s Office encourages boaters to:

Designate a sober boat operator.
Wear a properly fitted U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket.
Ensure children wear life jackets as required by law.
Operate at safe speeds and stay alert.
Carry required safety equipment.
Stay hydrated and protect against sun exposure.
Obey buoys, restricted areas, and no-wake zones.
File a float plan and let someone know your plans.

Deputies will conduct safety inspections throughout the holiday weekend and are available to answer boating safety questions.
