⚠️ WEATHER ALERT⚠️

The threat of heavy rain and flash flooding continues to increase across our area.

Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected through Friday, with the highest risk for significant impacts from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday night.

What to expect:
• Periods of heavy rain through the week
• Street flooding and flooding in low-lying areas
• Frequent lightning and wind gusts up to 40 to 50 mph
• Rising water levels in rivers, bayous, and streams
• Widespread rainfall totals of 3 to 6 inches, with some areas potentially receiving much more

The greatest concern is flash flooding Wednesday night through Thursday evening. If storms repeatedly move over the same area, isolated rainfall totals could exceed 8 to 10 inches, leading to road closures, flooded homes and businesses, and dangerous travel conditions.

There is also a low risk for isolated severe weather, including damaging winds and brief tornadoes, especially Wednesday and Thursday.

A Potential Tropical Cyclone (possible Tropical Storm Arthur) is expected to strengthen before making landfall near the Louisiana-Texas border. St. Tammany Parish is expected to experience periods of heavy rain, gusty winds, and elevated water levels through the end of the week.

St. Tammany Parish has opened a self-service sandbag station in Slidell located at 34783 Grantham College Drive.

Please stay weather aware, monitor forecasts, and avoid driving through flooded roadways. We will continue to share updates as conditions change.

Millions across the U.S. are facing their first round of summer heat this week! 🌡️🥵

Your first instinct on a 90-degree day may be to get in the car, crank the AC to max and sit there, but there’s a much faster way to clear out stagnant air. ⤵️

And remember: a parked car gets dangerously hot instantly. Never leave a child alone in a vehicle — not even for a second.

When your car fogs up in the winter, you blast the defroster. But doing that on a hot, humid summer morning will turn your windshield into a solid cloud. 🌫️

Here's the trick for when the fog is on the OUTSIDE of your car. 👇

We are currently in the most perilous season for cyclists, and Louisiana unfortunately ranks high in bicyclist fatalities. If you are using a roadway, it is your duty to take every precaution to ensure your safety and that of others. Share the road responsibly, and prioritize safety while driving, riding, and walking.

That work zone isn’t just construction – it’s someone’s workplace. And someone’s family is counting on them to come home. Slow down. Stay alert.
Responsibility travels with you. ONE ROAD.

The “100 Deadliest Days of Summer” are here. Did you know the stretch between Memorial Day and Labor Day sees a massive spike in fatal crashes involving teen drivers?

With school out, teens are spending more time on the road, staying out later, and facing more distractions. Whether you are a young driver - or the parent of one - let’s work together to change this trend:

No distracted driving (phones, friends, food).
Slow down and respect the speed limit.
Always buckle up – every seat, every trip, every time.
Never drive impaired.
