🚨Please Help Us Spread Awareness🚨
This is something that needs to stop.
Unfortunately, this is not the first or even the second time we've found large amounts of food thrown away after food distributions in Shelby.
Today, my husband and I discovered our garbage can overflowing with more than 12 unopened half-gallons of milk, along with bags full of potatoes, tomatoes, asparagus, and other food that had simply been discarded.
The garbage bag was so heavy and overfilled that the two of us couldn't even remove it. We had to dig through the trash, empty the milk containers ourselves just to make the bag light enough to replace.
This has become an ongoing issue. After nearly every food distribution in Shelby, we find canned vegetables and other food items dumped in our trash.
We are asking everyone: Please stop using the Shelby Car Wash garbage can to dispose of food. More importantly, if you don't need the food, please leave it for someone who does.
There are families in our community who are struggling with rising grocery prices and food insecurity. Throwing away perfectly good food prevents those who truly need it from receiving help. This behavior is unacceptable and will no longer be tolerated at our location.
Please help us spread awareness by sharing this post. Together, we can encourage respect for our community resources and help ensure food reaches the people who truly need it.
