JBA VS SPC control arms.
I’ve run both JBA and SPC upper control arms on my 4Runner, so here’s my real-world take.
When we first got the truck, it already had a lift on it and we needed UCAs to get the caster back in spec. Trying to keep cost down, we went with JBA. They showed up quick, customer service was great, and honestly—they worked. No complaints on performance, and they held up fine over time.
The only issue we ran into wasn’t really the arms themselves—it was our frame. We just couldn’t quite get camber where we needed it. It was close enough to live with, so we ran it like that for years without any failures or major problems.
Fast forward to now—we’re stepping up to bigger tires, and alignment matters a lot more(because we spent a lot more, and don’t wanna mess up the investment) I ended up trading into a set of SPC arms, and that’s where the difference really shows.
SPC gives you adjustability. The ball joint design lets you fine-tune caster and camber, which helped us get everything where it needed to be. The rubber bushings are quiet, no maintenance, and overall they feel like a solid setup.
So my takeaway:
If you’re on a budget and your frame/alignment is already pretty straight, JBA will do the job just fine. And many can get alignment in if the frame is good.
But if you need to dial things in—especially for bigger tires(to move the wheel forward only, you can run big tires with JBA) or if your alignment isn’t perfect—SPC is the better choice.
