This Maserati Gran Turismo was well-loved but needed some extra attention. We got pretty aggressive with the sanding to remove as much of the micro-cracking as possible, and in the end achieved a result the owner was happy with, saving hundreds 💰 over replacing the units outright.

2015 Honda Accord | Yesterday was a beautiful day to be outside! It was time to bring some life back to this Accord. Here's a reminder that refreshed headlight lenses can make your vehicle look and feel years newer.
(Hard to believe 2015 models are nearly 10 years old already 🤦🏻‍♂️)

This Altima felt a little hazy coming into spring, but got cleared up before summer. A lot of customers hire me to restore headlights on second-hand vehicles gifted to their children. Next time you're out, take a look at how many vehicles are driving with dangerously low-clarity lenses, reducing their ability to illuminate the road after dark. Good news? It should knock a few bucks off the purchase price. $$$ Add value back to your car, truck or SUV by getting an inexpensive upgrade restoring your existing lenses instead of replacing them!

These BMW lenses come from the factory with a heavy-duty sealant layer that is more prone to surface scratches and minor pitting than actual lens damage. (This was a 15yr old wagon!) Over time, all these minor imperfections add up to reducing the clarity and throughput of the units. It takes quite a bit of work to sand these down, but the results are definitely worth it! These lenses should last a long time thanks to high-quality materials and a few new coats of UV sealant. Getting these polished up makes this beemer look like a new ride.

This VW R32 was looking a little worse for wear. I was happy to be able to bring this beauty back to life with a little grit and polish. New vehicles come with a factory sealant on the lenses to protect the polycarbonate from degrading in UV exposure. Over time, this coating breaks down and the plastic starts to disintegrate. Left too long, irreparable damage can be done, with deep spider cracks. Thankfully in this case it was only skin deep, and I was able to grind it down to a clean base and polish it up clear. A few coats of UV protectant should serve this Golf for years to come.

If you've tried cleaning your headlights by yourself, you may feel like a lot of my customers - 'It didn't work.' or 'It didn't last.' DIY kits can work, but they aren't designed to remove scratches, pitting, or heavy oxidization, and sometimes leave out an important key - UV sealant to protect the lenses. My procedure steps up from removing deep oxidized layers to crystal clarity, finishing with a multi-coat sealant to protect the lenses for years to come.

This Lexus had some pretty major yellowing on its lenses. While they were in otherwise decent shape - no cracking or scratches - the light output of these lenses really took a hit, and the hazing made the vehicle look much older and worn down than it really was. Facelift time? Look at the reflection once they were polished and sealed.

Today's job: 2011 Toyota Tundra. At 10-12 years, most vehicles have developed a lot of hazing and yellowing, especially if they've sat out in the elements. This one went smoothly, taking down the oxidized layers and polishing up to a clear shine protected and ready for more adventures.

The geometry and angles on this Range Rover made for some tricky sanding, but the end result was fantastic. A service like this really gives a new lease on life for an older vehicle. Once they get over 10yrs, many headlights start to see major hazing and yellowing due to UV damage. Not only do I remove this oxidized layer, but a special protective coating is applied to seal the material for a long time to come.

Getting my workout today. Sanded, polished & sealed the lenses on this Audi Q7. A previous attempt by the owner resulted in swirled scratches in the clear coat. DIY kits can work, but are designed for light touch-ups or lenses whose clear coats have worn away. Factory sealant may be scratched, but it's still very tough, so to clear the lenses requires a more aggressive grit than is offered in kits. Removing this layer allows you to polish the polycarbonate and seal it in with a few new coats of UV protectant.
