We had a work truck come in and noticed some shocks were missing. There was a notable difference in the vehicle's stability compared to a regular truck. You can see not only that the shock has been torn off, but that an attempt to repair the connection was made. For being a work truck, this didn’t bother the customer too much. However, it is something a regular everyday vehicle would need to be aware of and definitely take care of.

Why are shocks important?

Shocks are an important part of the suspension, so it's hard to miss when they're failing. Like a spring in a mattress, the suspension is responsible for absorbing the weight and pressure. This control helps keep your ride smooth and less bouncy. When driving over potholes or cracks in the road.

If your vehicle is bouncing a little bit, that is normal, but if you are stuck in a vehicle that is jarring you back and forth, that is an issue. Bad shocks can contribute to uneven tire wear and longer stopping distances. Does some of this sound relatable to you?

🚗 Sometimes a “temporary fix” can create more problems than it solves.
This vehicle came in for a water pump leak. During our inspection, our technician noticed dried silicone all around the water pump housing.
After talking with the customer, we found out he had attempted a creative DIY solution. Coolant had been leaking onto the serpentine belt, causing it to occasionally slip off the pulleys. Frustrated with the problem—and trying to avoid the costly repairs—he used silicone to create a makeshift barrier and redirect the leaking coolant away from the belt.
Unfortunately, the fix could only last so long.
When we repaired the water pump, we also had to carefully remove the excess silicone. Leaving it behind could have allowed it to melt or drip onto the exhaust and potentially create another problem.
We understand wanting to save money. That's why we didn't charge the customer extra for the cleanup. We got the vehicle repaired properly and helped get him back on the road.
💡 The lesson? If you notice a leak, don't wait until a temporary fix turns into a bigger repair. Sometimes addressing the problem early can save you time, money, and headaches.

This vehicle came in last week for some repair work. Another mechanic shop recommended us for the work because they did not have the updated tools and equipment for the job.

The customer informed us of a brake light that had come on and a slight drag they had noticed when driving.
Upon further inspection, our mechanic noticed the rear side caliper had locked up. The damage was so significant that the brake pad had been completely rubbed off and the rotor had been ground down to a centimeter less than its opposite side.
