There are a lot of imported toys and almost shops refuse to work on them. Something I've never understood, as long as parts are available I'll make it go.

I can't decide if I made this video as a joke or not. I've actually used this for years and it absolutely works better than most alternatives.

Very few shops are willing to work on battery powered equipment. I don't have that issue, if someone is willing to pay for a repair I'll do what I can, but watch what you buy. I will always recommend Stihl, even for battery stuff. This Craftsman mower needs a battery, but they discontinued the batteries just a couple of years after production of this model stopped so my scrap hauler gets this mower.

Most small engine equipment is pretty easy and accessible. If you've worked on modern cars or heavy equipment this is still pretty easy stuff, but the more compact a machine is made, the longer it takes to get to the access you need to diagnose and repair.

Tube time. When I went to work at a dealership I was surprised when I was told they didn't do tubes or tires and to just send the customer to the tire shop. That's one of the small things that didn't sit well with me. All I could think was, you are the dealer, you sell the machine, you are supposed to be the professionals, you have a huge labor rate, and you tell your customer to take it some where else. Or we would take them, then charge labor time for driving back and forth both to drop off and pick up, plus marking up their fees. Could easily turn into a tube that cost over well over $100.

As I fix mowers, I fix every part of them, whether that's an engine, a transmission, a hydrostatic transmission, or a wheel. Now I might swear a bit when doing tubes or tires as they are a pain, but that is just another part of fixing the machine. I'd be embarrassed to say I fixed most of it, now take it to another shop.
