This is front tires climbing stone stairs one at a time, suspension soaking up every edge, headlights cutting through shade under the dead pines while the cliffs look on. Nobody is rushing. There's a ledge out there where everyone kills the engine at the same time without saying a word. Boots on warm slickrock, the canyon wall glowing across the valley, three machines ticking as they cool. Getting there means a lot of winding through scrub and sand, which is half the fun, but that quiet minute on the rock is the thing you end up telling people about on Monday.

It starts in a parking lot, which is the least cinematic part of the whole thing. Cage bars, a cold seat, a wheel that feels heavier than expected. Ten minutes later the pavement is a rumor and the cliffs are stacked in bands of rust and cream behind the machine in front of you, and your hands have figured out what to do on their own. Somebody already took this seat today. Now it's yours.

From above it looks like a line of ants working up a ribbon of rust, but down in the seat every ledge is a decision and every spire you pass seems to lean in for a closer look. The juniper closes in, the rock gets chunkier, and then the canopy opens and the buttes are lit from behind like somebody left the stage lights on. Pick a fork. Both of them are worth it.
