Riley will be returning to Swordsquatch 2026 for a Sumo Fundamentals workshop!

Workshop Description: Sumo fundamentals and match flow. We’ll establish the core stance, basic exercises, foot sliding, and core finishing moves. After everyone has their posture set, we’ll go over the flow of a sumo match from the moment you enter the ring to the moment you exit.

Kendra will be joining Swordsquatch 2026 for two lectures!

Kendra Brown does independent medieval manuscript research in her free time, and trains and sometimes teaches at Athena School of Arms (athenaschoolofarms.org). She started translating historical fencing sources in 2003 with the Higgins Armory Sword Guild, and currently is working on an updated translation of the Latin Fiore manuscript in collaboration with Dr. Rebecca Garber. They will probably publish the Latin Lew gloss someday.

Kendra's irregular research blog is called Darth Kendra Research (darthkendraresearch.wordpress.com), and she has a forthcoming article in Acta Periodica Duellatorum. She has appeared at events in the US and Europe as well as in podcasts and video series including Fencing by the Book, The Sword Guy, and the CKDF Plague Lectures.

If terms like "side-eye strike", "stance of the serene leopard", or "very deep rabbit hole research disaster area" excite you, you'll get along great. Kendra also enjoys rondel dagger, polearms, and frequently longsword.

Call for Artists!

This is a paid opportunity! Swordsquatch is hiring an artist to create our 2026 T-Shirt Design! This shirt features our event Mascot, the Swordsquatch, usually alongside a theme for this year’s event (some previous theme examples: Hold My Beer, Roadtrip, Summer Camp). Artists are encouraged to use their own style and interpretation of the character. We pay for 3 preliminary sketches up front *after* selecting an artist. Please do not send us spec work. Final artwork is due in June. No generated AI imagery of any kind is permitted.

Our ideal artist:

- Displays good design or line sense in their portfolio and is able to produce work suited for screenprint
- Is able to communicate with an art director to meet deliverable goals on time and work within a fixed color palette guide
- Communicative and receptive to feedback
- Accepts Paypal or Venmo

Interested applicants, please send portfolios via email to [email protected]
