At TC Auto & Performance, we've always worked hard to provide quality service at fair and competitive prices. We believe in being transparent with our customers, which is why we want to share an important update.

Over the past several months, we've seen significant increases in the cost of motor oil from our suppliers. In some oil weights, our cost has increased by as much as $4 per quart. Unfortunately, these increases have reached a point where we can no longer absorb the entire impact.

As a result, you may notice adjustments to our oil change pricing moving forward.

Please know that this was not a decision we made lightly. We remain committed to using quality products, employing skilled technicians, and providing the level of service you've come to expect from us.

We understand that every dollar matters, and we'll continue to work hard to keep our prices as reasonable as possible while maintaining the quality and reliability your vehicle deserves.

🔧 FORD 5.4L TRITON SPARK PLUGS

If you've ever owned a Ford truck with a 5.4L 3-Valve Triton engine, you've probably heard the stories about spark plugs breaking during replacement.

The issue isn't the engine itself—it is Ford's original two-piece spark plug design. Over time, carbon buildup causes the lower portion of the plug to seize in the cylinder head. When removed, the plug could separate, leaving part of it behind.

🚗 Ford produced millions of these engines, and the issue became so common that specialty extraction tools were created specifically for this repair.

Just another reminder that even routine maintenance can require the right knowledge, tools, and experience. A routine spark plug change without issues on these would be a miracle!

It is extremely important to know that if your 5.4L 3 valve Triton needs plugs, it is very likely that some will be seized. Due to this, these repairs take a lot more time and skill to properly extract without causing the need for a complete engine teardown.

If your trusted mechanic reaches out with unfortunate news on your 3 valve Triton spark plugs, it should not be a surprise.

Here's a little rage bait for your afternoon...

We had what should have been a routine programming job take a hard left turn. The machine wouldn't recognize the accessory, which usually means we're in for a full software update, uninstall, reinstall, and a healthy dose of patience.

After jumping through all those hoops, the problem was still there.

The culprit?

A dummy pigtail plugged into the OBD-II port.

Nothing like spending time chasing software gremlins only to discover the vehicle had a fake connector hiding in plain sight.

We got it sorted out and everything is working as it should now, but not before the shop got its daily serving of frustration.

Technician lesson of the day: Trust nothing. Verify everything. 😅🔧

This week is a taste of what's ahead for July.. Corn sweat season is coming faster than we'd like to admit.

Fun fact! 1 acre of corn can release up to 4000+ gallons of water into the air every single day! This is why it feels so darn muggy during the summer!
