Soil testing can help you make smarter fertility decisions for next year. Even testing a few fields can give us a better starting point for building a fertility program that fits both your crop needs and your budget.

Don't forget about stored grain, either. Grain with a lot of w**d contamination and green seeds can be more prone to storage issues. If you're dealing with insects in stored grain, PRO Co-op has products available to help protect your investment.

One more thing to put on the calendar: private pesticide applicator licenses expire December 31, 2026. Check your current credits now so you aren't scrambling at the end of the year.

MSU Extension is planning programs in Plentywood and Scobey on September 28 for those needing 3 or 6 credits, and PRO Co-op will also be offering grower programs with pesticide points this fall.

There's a lot to keep track of after harvest, but getting a head start now can make winter—and next spring—a whole lot easier.

The rain delay has created an opportunity to take inventory of your 2026 w**d control.

As you get back into the fields, take note of what w**ds are still growing and where your biggest problems are. Some fields may need attention immediately after harvest, while others may be better addressed later this fall.

Last year’s rain during harvest gave us the unwanted opportunity to learn a few new ways to manage w**ds before and immediately after harvest. We might as well put that knowledge to use!

Budgets are limited, and we know no one wants to spray more than necessary. But there are certain w**ds and fields that need to be addressed now to make next year easier.

Take inventory now. Make a plan for fall. Set yourself up for a better start next spring.

And as always, talk with your PRO Co-op agronomist about the best options for your fields.
