Another repeat customer rolled back into AJ’s

This is his SECOND resto running one of our axle builds, and we hooked this old-school Chevy up with some seriously rad hardware:

When a DIY project turns south…

This customer tried tackling the pinion seal on his Tahoe himself, but an incorrect pinion seal turned a simple repair into a headache. After fighting with it long enough, he was tired of messing with it and brought it to us.

This Tahoe is used to launch a boat, so keeping water out of the differential is especially important. The right seal, installed correctly, keeps gear oil in and helps keep water and contamination out.

Sometimes the best DIY decision is knowing when to hand it off.

We got him taken care of and back on the road.

GT500 — 4.10s Out, Ford Performance 3.73s In!

This Shelby rolled into AJ’s Dirt & AJ's Dirt And Off Road Shop with a failing 4.10 gear setup. Excessive movement in the differential was allowing the ring and pinion mesh to shift under load, causing noise, poor contact, and accelerated wear.

We tore it down and replaced the 4.10s with Ford Motor Company 3.73s

The result: a quieter, properly set-up differential with a ratio better suited for this GT500.

This Jeep Gladiator came to AJ’s Dirt & AJ's Dirt And Off Road Shop with a specific mission: tow a camper on 33s.

No oversized tires planned. No need to overgear it. We built the drivetrain around what this Jeep actually does.

4.56 Yukon Gear & Axle ring & pinions
Eaton TruTrac front & rear differentials
Yukon master install kits
Factory FAD actuator deleted
ECU configuration updated with JScan

The 4.56s paired with 33s put the gearing where we wanted it for this build, better mechanical advantage when pulling the camper, improved response, and less strain.

Not every Jeep needs 37s or 40s. Sometimes the right build is about making the Jeep better at the job it was bought to do.
