Mark’s work on this 1965 Chevelle center console is a great example of what happens when machining is treated as craftsmanship—not just a way to make a part.

He has a real desire to keep pushing the quality of every piece that comes off the machine: cleaner toolpaths, sharper details, better transitions, and especially the finish straight off the cutter.

A part like this gives you nowhere to hide. The machining marks, radiuses, edges, pockets, and overall flow all have to work together. Mark continues to refine the process until the finished surface represents the level of work we expect at SaltWorks.

Great machining isn’t just about holding a dimension.

It’s about making the part look as good as it measures.

Kayden and the Figur machine are making quick work of Frank’s Chevelle hood project.

Great fit, only two pieces, and a ton of time saved compared to traditional methods. This is exactly where digital forming technology shines — faster development, cleaner results, and less unnecessary assembly.

Huge thanks to Beau for the cad work and Brett for running the part and helping make it all come together. Really cool seeing the process, technology, and craftsmanship all working together to push these builds forward.

The Start ’55 Chevy is honored to receive the Tri-Five Pick today from the great people at Goodguys Rod & Custom Association.

What an incredible honor with so many absolutely beautiful Tri-Fives here at such an amazing venue. The craftsmanship, creativity, and passion surrounding these cars is what makes this hobby and community so special.

Very thankful to everyone involved in bringing this car to life and appreciative of all the support throughout the weekend. Nashville has been incredible.

Frank’s ’65 Chevelle ran into a pretty serious hood clearance issue with the massive Whipple-supercharged LT engine sitting down in the Roadster Shop chassis. Rather than compromise the package, we went to work.

The team scanned the factory hood, designed a solution that looked like it could have come from GM themselves, and turned it over to the Figur G15 to produce a completely new hood insert ready to be welded in.

This is exactly where technology and craftsmanship collide. Digital design, precision forming, and then the human touch to make it all flow naturally into the original hood lines.

Brett absolutely knocked this one out of the park making the entire process happen from concept to finished panel. The new insert gives us the clearance we needed while keeping the Chevelle aggressive, clean, and proportional.

One-off problems require one-off solutions. This is the kind of work that keeps pushing SaltWorks forward.
