We've been getting hammered with morning storms lately, and most drivers just think about the traffic.

But repeated hard stops on wet roads, splashing through flooded intersections, and constant short trips after a soak all add up. Deep water hides potholes that knock your alignment out fast. Standing water pulled into your engine air intake is a serious problem.

If you've been driving through any of the recent flooding, it's worth having someone look underneath. We do a complimentary vehicle check. Just stop in.

Spot a puddle under your car? The color is the clue.

Bright green or orange: coolant. Pink or red: transmission fluid or power steering. Brown or black: engine oil. Clear and watery: usually A/C condensation, totally normal.

Different fluids, different urgency. Some you can drive on for a day, some you really can't. If you're not sure what you're looking at, swing by and we'll take a look. No appointment needed for a quick check.

A soft, spongy brake pedal that sinks low before it grabs is a sign something's off in your brake system, usually air in the brake lines or a fluid issue.

It's different from worn pads. The car might stop fine at first and then less predictably when you really need it.

Don't sit on this one. If your pedal feels different than it used to, come in and let our team take a look. That's exactly what we're here for.

Myth: you need an oil change every 3,000 miles.

Fact: most modern vehicles with conventional oil go 5,000 to 7,500 miles between changes. Many using full synthetic are designed for 7,500 to 10,000 miles or more.

Your owner's manual has the actual interval for your specific engine. Changing oil more often than needed isn't harmful, but it's not necessary either. Not sure what your car calls for? Ask us and we'll tell you straight.

A wheel alignment means we measure and adjust the angles of all four tires so they're pointing exactly where the manufacturer intended.

We're talking camber, caster, and toe, three separate angles that affect how your car tracks, how evenly your tires wear, and how much fuel you burn.

It takes specialized equipment and usually about an hour. If your tires are wearing unevenly on one edge, that's often the first sign you're overdue. Questions? Drop them below or stop by and we'll walk you through it.

Myth: coolant just needs to be topped off when it's low.

Fact: coolant breaks down over time. As it ages, it becomes acidic and loses the additives that protect your radiator, water pump, and hoses from corrosion. Topping it off doesn't fix that.

A coolant exchange drains the old fluid completely and refills the system with fresh coolant. Most manufacturers recommend it every 2 to 5 years depending on the vehicle.

In Florida heat, your cooling system is working hard year-round. Keeping the fluid fresh is one of the cheaper ways to avoid a much more expensive repair.

Questions about your cooling system? Give us a call or stop by.

When it's time for new tires, you might see both all-season and performance options that fit your vehicle. Here's the difference in plain terms.

All-season tires are built for a wide range of conditions, longer tread life, and a comfortable everyday ride. They're the right call for most Florida drivers.

Performance tires prioritize grip and handling response. They're great if that matters to you, but they typically wear faster and can feel firmer on the road.

Neither is wrong. It just depends on how you drive and what you want out of the car.

Not sure which fits your situation? Ask us and we'll walk you through the options we carry.

If you hear a rhythmic clicking or popping when you make a tight turn, especially accelerating out of it, that's usually a CV axle joint telling you it's worn out.

CV joints are part of your drivetrain. They transfer power to your wheels while allowing the suspension to flex. When the protective boot cracks and the grease dries out, the joint wears fast.

Ignoring it long enough means the axle can fail completely, which is a much bigger fix than catching it early.

Hearing that click? Come by and we'll put it up on the lift and have a look.

Salt air off the Gulf doesn't just affect your paint. It works on everything underneath your car too, brake lines, suspension components, fasteners, exhaust hangers.

Most drivers in Sarasota and Osprey don't think about undercarriage corrosion the way northern drivers think about road salt. But coastal humidity and salty air add up over years, especially on vehicles that spend a lot of time near the water.

When we put your car on the lift for any service, our courtesy check gives us a look at what's going on underneath. It's one of those things worth knowing before it becomes a real problem.

Bring it by anytime and we'll take a look.
