Sea turtle nesting season update from our friends at SCCF:

Things are getting busy!
Over the past 7 days, we documented 140 new nests and 361 false crawls (about 20 new nests per day and roughly 50 false crawls). Nest counts are looking strong for the season statewide too: loggerheads are tracking above end-of-May totals from 2023 (a record year), leatherbacks are already exceeding their total from 2025 (their record year), and greens are improving versus the last couple years.

Also, genetics confirmed the first-ever documented olive ridley nest in Florida at Jupiter Beach—it’ll be interesting to see if that’s a one-off or the start of something more.

Hatching season is almost here, and we’ll keep you posted—coyotes have depredated 120 nests so far.
