I’ve received many inquiries over the last few months and especially over the last few days about when is going to re-open as it appears America finally has a handle on Covid and mask mandates are beginning to relax, people are eager to get back to normal, etc.
The short answer is that we are aiming for the 1st quarter of 2022. We are targeting the Burlingame area for our new location. Unfortunately, our lease on the Palm Ave location expired at the end of 2020. Our landlord was unwilling to work with us at any point during Covid and he wanted another 5 year lease at the same rate to stay in that location. We lost a lot of money making sure ends were meeting up to that point and it simply didn’t make economic since to continue to remain open with no end to the pandemic on the horizon.
At this point 1st quarter of 2022 is still feasible but as this email I received from Honda North America today explains there are some pretty major global and local consequences… ultimately hurdles that have to be overcome before “mom & pop shops” like can confidently re-open in a way that’s affordable for our customers and profitable from a business standpoint.
I will post more updates once we get a location secured and we get closer to being ready to get going again.
