Making clean work out of a messy job!

The 1935 Seagrave Firetruck lighting has been wired up!
Testing it for the first time and all systems GO!
Now to button it up.

Details:
The truck was restored by someone else years ago, but came to us with no working or wired lights except for the rear tail light.
Gary added a painless wiring harness for the dash and regular lights, added turn signals since they were not standard back then, removed all the original spot, red lights, and rear flashers. He then gutted all assemblies and converted it to a 12 volt, from the original 6 volt system, and wired in the new harnneses.
A custom harness for all of the safety warning lights needed to be fabricated. Gary wired in a wig-wag module for the front red warning lights so they would flash as they were originally a steady burn. The rear red warning lights were converted to modern strobe lights utilizing the original housings to maintain the esthetic. A new 50" led light bar was hidden under the rear of the vehicle (so the purists wouldn't complain) to make backing into the dark firehouse a little easier.

Hello there SAS friends!
Did I mention that on occasion we specialize in off the wall custom stuff?

Gary engineered and built a custom steering shaft for a 1971 Jaguar E-Type from Borgenson Universal Steering components from Summit Racing.

Why did he have to rebuild the steering, you ask?

The Jag originally came with a V12 motor, and has now been converted to a GM performance ZZ6 350. Gary dropped in the new engine, transmission and fuel injection. Lots of modifications have to be made for this huge conversion. One of which was figuring out how to get the steering shaft around the new engine. The video below shows the mock up and testing of the final product. A few tweaks and tightening and that part is all done!!

Because the engine shape and layout is different than before, Gary will also have to custom make all the cooling lines, oil hoses, high pressure lines, etc. and maybe even A/C lines too! Good thing we make all those custom lines in house. We are one of the only businesses that specialize in fabricating custom lines and hoses for vehicles in most of California!

Well folks, what has Gary gotten himself into this time...
He is in the process of rewiring a 1935 Seagrave Firetruck 🚒for the City of Alameda. This involves removing all the old wiring and installing a new wiring harness for all the old features, as well as some new additions. Seems as though adding turn signals and brake lights was important to the customer🤣!
Being meticulous and organized are paramount for a job like this. A perfect job for Gary here at SAS.

Automotive Technician/Mechanic Needed

We are seeking an organized, dependable, knowledgeable Automotive Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will inspect, diagnose, repair and perform general maintenance & diagnostics on American and Foreign vehicles, we do not service European vehicles, and make recommendations for automotive repairs and maintenance.
Candidate should be physically and mentally fit, have a solid knowledge of technical tools, and must have their own tools to perform the jobs as needed. Applicant must be able to keep their work area clean and take pride in their job. Must be a self starter that can work under pressure, and keep busy with a fluctuating work load.
As a qualified mechanic, you must have the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical problems, and adhere to vehicle safety protocols.
Automotive Technician Duties and Responsibilities
• Check vehicles to ensure compliance with state inspection requirements
• Perform routine automotive maintenance, such as oil changes and tire rotations
• Identify pre-existing and potential vehicle malfunctions & Inspect vehicles for faulty parts
• Test vehicle parts prior to installation/repair
• Analyze and diagnose mechanical issues
• Create a plan of action for all repairs
• Follow checklists and protocols while conducting repairs
• Regularly clean and maintain tools and equipment
• Ensure a safe, organized, and tidy workspace
• Keep machinery/tools in good working condition
• Support coworkers and be a good team player
• Keep accurate records of completed and outstanding jobs
• Consistently meet deadlines for completed work
• Other duties as assigned
• Follow all health and safety laws and guidelines, as well as common sense safety practices

Automotive Technician Requirements and Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required
• Associate’s degree or Vocational/trade school certification desired, but not required
• ASE Certification highly desired, but not required
• At least 3 years of previous experience in a related role
• Ability to work in uncomfortable, physically demanding positions, stand on one’s feet for prolonged periods, and lift up to 50 pounds at a time
• SMOG technician license a plus
• Proven mechanical acuity and basic math skills
• Familiarity and experience with various hand tools and common mechanic’s tools, service, and diagnostic equipment

Must have clean driving record, valid California License, and be able to pass a background check. Must be able to lift 50lbs, be able to squat/bend, and be able to work under a vehicle with minimal accommodation.

We are a family owned shop. We offer medical, dental, vision, 401k, and paid Holiday, Vacation and Sick benefits after 90 day probationary period.
Pay TBD and will be commiserate with experience.
