It’s been a busy first week of 2026, and we’re wrapping it up with a couple of projects headed in the right direction.

Pictured here is the TSA PreCheck mobile vehicle, which recently came in after being vandalized near the airport. Repairs are now complete, and the vehicle is ready for pickup and back in service.

Also in the shop this week is another important community vehicle from Bay Area Community Health, in for routine service and maintenance. Keeping fleet and specialty vehicles road-ready is a big part of what we do.

We appreciate the trust our local agencies and community organizations place in our team.
Wishing everyone a great weekend from all of us here in San Jose.

The collision damage to this sweet motorhome was concentrated on the front fiberglass cap. Fortunately, the windshield and all internal components were untouched.

Our longtime technician and multi-talented craftsman Eloy handled this repair from start to finish and did a truly outstanding job. Once the coach arrived, we ordered the replacement grille and related components while he began the fiberglass repair and restoration work.

Tiffin Motorhomes are well known for their solid construction, strong factory support, and long-term parts availability. Allegro coaches like this one are especially popular for their practical floorplans, comfortable ride quality for a gas Class A, and durable interiors.

Early last week, the remaining parts arrived. From there, everything came together quickly. Final assembly, finishing work, quality checks and the coach was ready for customer pickup shortly after. Seeing it leave our shop looking right again is always a good feeling.

🎄 Holiday Schedule Update ✨
We’ll be open today and Tuesday during Christmas week, and open Monday and Tuesday during New Year’s week.
We’ll be closed Wednesday through Friday both weeks.

🦃 The Day Before Thanksgiving at Almaden RV

The day before Thanksgiving is always a busy one here at the shop. Our hard-working crew is looking forward to a fun and restful holiday, but today, it’s all hands on deck to wrap up a full slate of projects.

From brake jobs and safety inspections to restoring the interior of a vandalized Mobile TSA Pre-check Van, the team is pushing to get everything completed and delivered before the end of the day. It’s a big effort, but that’s what we do, take care of our customers and keep their rigs rolling.

We’re grateful for our crew, grateful for our customers, and grateful for another year of doing what we love.

Wishing everyone safe travels and a wonderful Thanksgiving! 🦃🚐

Working on Airstream Travel Trailers is one of our specialties.

These iconic trailers require unique tools, techniques, and experience, especially when it comes to aluminum bodywork and rivets. This particular Airstream rolled past something that left a long dented streak down the left side. In most cases, the only proper way to repair this type of damage is to remove the damaged aluminum panels and replace them. Fortunately, in this case the damage was limited to the exterior skin; the pillars and structural posts were untouched.

Airstream was founded by Wally Byam in 1931. An inventor and marketer, he began building trailers in the late 1920s, drawing inspiration from early aircraft construction.

Airstreams quickly became known for being lightweight, luxurious and incredibly durable. The now-famous riveted aluminum monocoque body is the same construction style used in airplane fuselages. Its shiny aerodynamic surface isn't just eye-catching, it makes Airstreams easier to tow and more fuel-efficient.

Today Airstreams have Advanced composite flooring, Improved insulation and thermal barriers, Modern HVAC, solar, inverters, lithium systems, LED lighting, Smart-home-style controls and Modern appliances.

We’re waiting on parts and will show pictures of the completed job after it’s all polished up and ready to go!

🚐 A Story of Restoration and Resilience

A few months back, we shared photos of a damaged 2019 Ram Promaster 3500 High Top camper van that had been through a serious collision.

While traveling through Willits County, the van was broadsided, hit hard, by another vehicle driven by a young man. Unfortunately, the young man’s father who happened to be the local sheriff refused to file or submit an accident report. Feeling shaken and unsafe, the owner made the difficult decision to take a daring drive and return the seriously damaged RV back to San Jose.

When the van arrived, the damage was extensive both structurally and mechanically. We replaced the entire rear axle assembly, rear hubs and wheels, and the rear braking system. Elios, our collision restoration expert, replaced several pillars and posts, then installed and fitted a new large side panel. Inside, we repaired cabinetry and re-fabricated cabinet doors.

Once the structural and mechanical work was complete, the exterior was color-matched and painted. As always, the final details including alignments, seals, and functionality were all restored to their original fit and finish, inside and out.

Today, the owner came in to take the van home and was delighted to see their home-on-wheels looking and driving as if the accident had never happened.

⚡🔧 Electrical Troubleshooting Experts at Work! 🔧⚡

These photos show one of our technicians deep into diagnosing a major electrical issue on a luxury coach.

Jobs like this are not for the faint of heart, and definitely not for anyone who isn’t an expert in complex RV and coach electrical systems.

Reading schematics, probing, testing circuits, and tracing faults to their source takes experience, precision, and patience. Finding the cause of an issue without damaging something else along the way also requires a steady mind, a steady hand, and years of real-world expertise.

We take pride in solving even the toughest electrical challenges, safely, accurately, and to factory standards.

🚐🔧 Major RV Restoration in Progress! 🔧🚐

This Outback Ultra-Lite Travel Trailer by Keystone RV came to us after a tough winter in storage. Water intrusion had caused serious damage to the flooring, subfloor, and framing throughout the coach.

Projects like this come close to a complete rebuild of the entire floor assembly.
✅ Removing the slide-out and interior cabinetry
✅ Prepping and rebuilding the subfloor structure
✅ Accurately measuring, cutting, and installing all-new materials to factory specifications
✅ Skillfully handling all electrical, plumbing, insulation, and venting
✅ Completing interior finish work, reinstalling cabinets, refinishing walls, and laying brand-new flooring

Once the rebuild is finished, every detail will go through our thorough quality inspections to ensure it’s road-ready and built to last.

Stay tuned for the after photos of this complete floor rebuild!

🚐✨ Classic RV Spotlight: The Foretravel Grand Villa ✨🚐

First introduced in 1986, the Grand Villa was a game-changer in the motorhome world. With its aerodynamic design, spacious interiors, and advanced engineering, it quickly became one of the most popular motorhomes of its era. Built on the rugged Oshkosh chassis with air suspension, air brakes, and powerful diesel engines like the Caterpillar 3208 or the Cummins 8.3, coupled with an Allison MT-643 four-speed transmission, the Grand Villa set new standards in comfort, luxury and drivability.

Foretravel was also the first to introduce rear-engine diesel power to a conventional motorhome in the 1970s, and the Grand Villa carried that legacy forward with innovations like airbag suspensions and the monocoque “Unihomes” design, an aircraft-style unibody structure that combined strength, durability, and a smoother ride. Unlike most RVs of the time, these coaches didn’t just sit on a ladder frame; the body and chassis worked together as one, making them lighter, quieter, and far more advanced than their competitors.

At Almaden RV Service & Repairs, we’ve been caring for Grand Villas (and Foretravel coaches in general) for decades. That experience means we know how to quickly troubleshoot and repair the chassis, air suspension, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as update appliances, flooring, lighting, TVs, and audio systems. We can even design and install a complete solar package to give you more power, more freedom, and extended boondocking adventures wherever the road takes you.
